JOB TITLE:Infusion Nurse LPN or RN


REPORTS TO: Director of Nursing


JOB SUMMARY:Professional member of health team who provides highly specialized skilled nursing services in client's home, under the direction of a plan of treatment established by physician.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties of the IV Infusion Nurse include, but are not limited to:


  1. Provide initial and on-going activities of client needs and appropriateness of services.
  2. Experience with Port or Pic line IV infusion
  3. Experience starting and removing Peripheral IV
  4. Educate patient on infusion medication.
  5. Assesses patients throughout the infusion for adverse reactions to the medication.
  6. Documents medications, vital signs, and side effects during infusion.
  7. Responds appropriately to side effects, adverse reactions, or anaphylaxis during infusion
  8. Collaborating and communicating effectively with pharmacists and physicians.
  9. Provide physical and emotional comfort and safety of client.
  10. Notifies physician and agency Director of Nursing of unusual reactions and changes in client's condition.
  11. Documents all appropriate observations and treatments in keeping with agency policy and procedure.
  12. Instructs client and/or significant other in disease process, prescribed treatments, actions side effects of medications and treatments and those complications requiring medical intervention.
  13. Provides daily summary of services and client outcomes to physician and agency supervisor as per agency policy and procedures.
  14. Works as an integral part of the client's team (client, physician, nurse, pharmacist, etc.) to insure safe effective delivery of patient treatment
  15. Conducts self in a professional manner at all times and in all situations.
  16. Provides Agency with a) required license or certificate and b) necessary information to be able to verify experience.
  17. Accepts only those assignments for which he/she is qualified.
  18. Complies with all agency policies and procedures.
  19. Communicates with Agency about problems or concerns.
  20. Complies with state regulatory acts.


QUALIFICATIONS:


Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.


Currently licensed by the State of Florida.


Minimum of one (1) year current experience in the health care community.


In addition to being licensed in the State of Florida, the Hi-Tech Nurse must:


  1. Provide evidence of specialized training in hi-tech procedures
  2. and/or
  3. Provide evidence of administering hi-tech services in acute care setting. Six (6) months employment in a hospital ICU, CCU, telemetry OR or IV team setting may fulfill this requirement.
  4. Be CPR Certified.
  5. IV Certified
