Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Operating Room position requiring 3 years of experience with Level I trauma background and a required call rotation.

Details
  • 13-week assignment in a short-term acute care hospital Operating Room
  • Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (11:00-23:30)
  • Core 6 OR services covering General, Plastic, GYN, ENT, Trauma, Neuro, Ortho, GU, and Colorectal Robotics
  • Average daily census of 70-80 with 21 operating rooms
  • Call required, approximately 6 call shifts within a 6-week rotating period
  • No block scheduling
  • Floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital as needed
  • Uses Cerner charting system
  • Scrubs provided
Requirements
  • Active IN or Compact RN license required, must be in hand prior to start
  • BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of OR RN experience required, or 2 years with at least 1 year of Level I trauma experience
  • Level I trauma experience required
  • Circulating experience required; scrub experience preferred
  • Cerner charting experience preferred
  • Well-rounded and current skills across most OR specialties, excluding CV and Transplant
  • Experience with a range of surgical procedures including gynecologic, neurologic, general, orthopedic, urologic, and robotic surgeries (including Da Vinci Xi system)
  • Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
  • 2 supervisor references required
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Provide circulating and scrub support across a high-volume, multi-specialty OR service line
  • Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
  • Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates residing in Indiana are accepted at a lower pay package for this Surgical Services position
  • Former IU Health perm or PRN employees must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
  • Current or past IU Health travelers with 12 months of accrued travel employment must take a designated break to reset eligibility (90 days for out-of-state residents, 180 days for in-state residents)
  • Charge pay is available for this position
