Job description


The Neil Jones Food Company is an industry leader, processing superior quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.


We are seeking a talented individual Regional Sales Manager to join our team of seasoned and professional Region Sales Managers, to lead our West U.S. and West Canada region. This role will succeed our tenured West Region Manager, who is retiring, and will inherit a significant and well-established book of business and significant opportunities for growing sales in the region.

The Region Sales Manager is a highly relationship-focused role in a people-centered business. Success depends on building, strengthening, and sustaining trusted partnerships with brokers, distributors, operators, and internal stakeholders. This role requires integrity, responsiveness, and a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach to drive long-term, mutually beneficial growth

Reporting to the National Foodservice Sales Director, the Region Sales Manager is responsible for delivering profitable sales growth across the assigned territory. This role leads and directs both direct and broker-managed sales efforts for our California-grown processed tomato and tomato sauce products, as well as Pacific Northwest fruit offerings. The position drives case volume and revenue across foodservice, targeted retail grocery, cash-and-carry, and small food manufacturing channels.

The Region Sales Manager is accountable for achieving revenue and margin objectives while effectively managing trade spend and operating costs to meet established financial targets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Achieve regional sales objectives for volume (cases) and revenue (dollars) through existing as well as new distributors and operator/end-user customers.
  • Manage revenue and expenses to meet or exceed established financial targets.
  • Lead, coordinate, train, and manage regional brokers and direct sales representatives.
  • Develop and execute strategic and tactical sales plans across assigned markets.
  • Drive growth with distributor partners and through operator segments, including:
    • Street operators
    • Large leverage operators
    • Regional multi-unit operators
    • Primary segments such as Italian/Pizza, Mexican, and other tomato-intensive concepts.

Qualifications:

  • Proven Sales Success: Track record of driving profitable sales growth in the foodservice channel, including national and private-label brands.
  • Industry Expertise: Deep understanding of foodservice operator segments, particularly tomato-based cuisine concepts.
  • Market Insight & Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate data into actionable insights for planning and decision-making.
  • Leadership & Team Management: Experienced in leading, coaching, and developing teams, including brokers and direct sales representatives.
  • Strategic Thinking & Execution: Ability to develop and implement strategic and tactical plans, manage multiple priorities, and deliver measurable results.
Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, marketing, or related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in consumer food product sales, preferably within Foodservice and Retail channels.
    • Or any equivalent combination of training, experience and education that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the key responsibilities of this position.
    • Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of profitability, trade spend management, and operating costs
    • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to quickly analyze data.


Work Environment:
    • The position is home-based and location is flexible, provided it is in the region and reasonable air travel.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license
    • Ability to sit, stand, walk and climb stairs.
    • Travel required 40%-60%
    • Must be able to travel in the U.S. and Canada without restriction.
