Maximus is currently seeking an IT Solution Architect.
Are you passionate about leading technical innovation and driving business growth through technology solutions? The IT Solution Architect will design and implement technology solutions for complex government applications while providing technical leadership to development teams. This role is crucial to our growth strategy as you'll bridge business and technical domains by translating complex business needs into effective technical solutions while pragmatically prioritizing the most impactful efforts. You will lead solution development efforts that address critical customer challenges, applying innovative technologies and methodologies to create differentiated solutions. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with business acumen to ensure solutions align with both customer requirements and Maximus' strategic objectives, ultimately powering growth through the delivery of high-value, mission-focused technology solutions.
This is a remote position. Because of contractual obligations candidates must be US Citizens or Green Card holders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the architectural integrity of the program and maintaining the enterprise vision of the solution from a technical and business perspective. Find balanced solutions that satisfy both business and technical requirements.
- Responsible for the business/technical solution and guiding what should be done within the program to ensure alignment with the enterprise strategy.
- Provide technical design, prototype development, and support to program management in the initiation, design, development, implementation, maintenance and management of service- based enterprise architecture.
- Lead enterprise architecture analysis, evaluation, design, integration, documentation, and development. Mediate between competing priorities or technical disagreements.
-Participate in technical working sessions and gather input from SMEs.
- Work with internal and external teams to incorporate domain-specific capabilities and competencies into solution designs.
- Work closely with business leaders, customers, or other stakeholders to understand priorities and constraints. Facilitate collaboration across organizations and act as a bridge between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
-Work directly with customers to understand their needs and design tailored solutions. Build trust and credibility through consistent delivery and transparency.
- Help guide teams through technology transitions. Support training and adoption efforts to ensure successful implementation.
- Communicate and collaborate both internal and external to the organization, which includes stakeholders, clients, SMEs, vendors and various teams.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and training to technical employees across the company.
- Delegate and review work of junior technical professionals.
Job-Specific Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Solution Leadership & Technical Direction:
- Lead architectural design and solution development for complex government applications.
- Provide technical leadership and direction to development teams throughout the SDLC.
- Define technical standards and best practices for solution development.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend strategic adoption opportunities.
- Lead technical risk assessment and mitigation planning.
Stakeholder Management & Business Alignment:
- Collaborate with capture managers and business development teams on opportunity shaping.
- Work closely with product managers and business analysts to understand requirements.
- Translate complex business needs into effective technical solutions.
- Support proposal development with technical solution components and estimation.
- Participate in solution reviews with executives and subject matter experts.
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in related field.
- 7-10 years of relevant professional experience required.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience considered in lieu of degree.
Job-Specific Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field. Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirements.
- 7+ years of experience as an engineer, architect, or solution architect.
Technical Skills:
- US Citizenship or Green Card holder required for program requirements.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.
- Extensive experience with infrastructure and compute environments (AWS, Azure, VMWare).
- Deep knowledge of SDLC, PDLC, and Agile methodologies.
- Proven experience designing and integrating complex systems.
- Experience with government proposal development and solution leadership.
- Understanding of security, compliance, and risk management frameworks.
Leadership & Communication:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with focus on high-quality solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience leading technical teams and guiding junior architects.
