Our Canadian operation, Canaccord Genuity Corp., is investing in AI-powered tools to support our advisors, operations, and clients. This is a senior, hands-on role for a developer who will help shape our AI strategy and build the first generation of these tools on our existing technology platform.

This is an applied development role. You will build primarily on top of established foundation models and managed cloud AI services - using techniques such as retrieval-augmented generation, prompt engineering, and, where it adds measurable value, fine-tuning of hosted models. You will work closely with our development team, business stakeholders, and compliance and risk functions within a regulated financial-services environment.

This is a hybrid role with alternating days in the office. Hours for this role range from pm PST or 7:00 am - 3:00 pm PST, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm PST, 9:00 am -5:00 pm.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain new AI-powered features and integrate them into our existing applications and workflows.
  • Develop retrieval-augmented (RAG) pipelines, agent and tool-calling workflows, and orchestration over internal documents and data.
  • Where it delivers measurable value, fine-tune hosted/managed models on our data - including data preparation, evaluation, and guarding against overfitting and data leakage.
  • Implement AI within a strong data-governance framework: PII protection, data residency, access control, identity flows, and audit logging.
  • Assess models, vendors, and platforms, and make pragmatic build-versus-buy recommendations.
  • Establish monitoring, evaluation, and cost-control practices for AI systems in production.
  • Define technical standards for AI work and mentor members of the existing development team.
  • Work with risk and compliance to ensure solutions meet regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with advisors, operations, and compliance to surface, prioritize, and scope practical AI use cases with clear business value.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of professional experience in software development, with 3+ years building AI powered applications.
  • Strong hands-on experience withat least one of .NET,.NET Framework,C#, or Python.
  • Deep expertise inMicrosoft Azure(App Services, Microsoft Foundry, Azure Functions, Service Bus, Key Vault, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience building applications with large language models: RAG, function calling/agents, vector search, and evaluation.
  • Up to date on AI models and agent technologies, and can confidently recommend the most appropriate choice for a specific business problem, balancing performance, cost, and risk
  • Experience designing and consumingRESTful APIsand integrating with third-party services.
  • Solid understanding ofAzure DevOpsfor CI/CD, build/release pipelines, and source control (Git).
  • Strong understanding of security, compliance, and regulatory requirements in financial services.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
