The final hiring salary will be determined based on the selected candidate’s qualifications, experience, internal equity, and other applicable considerations. Wheat Ridge was founded during the 1859 Gold Rush as a rest stop for miners and later named for its golden wheat fields. As unsuccessful miners turned to farming, the area thrived with orchards, vegetable fields, and later, greenhouses, earning the title “Carnation City.” Incorporated in 1969, Wheat Ridge now offers a central location with easy access to Denver and the Rocky Mountains. It operates as a home-rule city with a council-manager government, where the elected council sets policy, and the manager oversees daily operations and budgeting. ABOUT THE ROLE: The IT Infrastructure Supervisor’s role is to manage staff and overall operations, ensuring the stable operation of the organization’s IT infrastructure. This includes developing, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing key functional areas, particularly server infrastructure, Software as a Service (SaaS) systems, network infrastructure, and telecommunications systems. The IT Infrastructure Supervisor will also schedule and direct activities to resolve hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategy & Planning

  • Design and implement short- and long-term strategic plans to ensure infrastructure capacity meets existing and future requirements.
  • Help develop, implement, andmaintainpolicies, procedures, and associated training plans for infrastructure team members and project management.
  • Participate in the development of IT strategies in collaboration with the IT executive team.
  • Conduct research and make recommendations on products, services, protocols, and standards in support of all infrastructure procurement and development efforts.
  • Ensure changes are documented and change management processes are followed
  • Fill in for Chief Information Officer when needed

Acquisition & Deployment

  • Manage vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure infrastructure-specific products and services.Oversee projects and vendors while work is in progress
  • Assistwith the planning and deployment of infrastructure security measures.

Operational Management

  • Supervise and provide support for system administrators, desktop technicians, and service desk; conduct performance reviews and corrective action.
  • Manage and set priorities for the design, maintenance, development, and evaluation of all infrastructure systems, including servers, backups, CCTV, cloud, security, wireless implementations,etc.
  • Oversee projects and project portfolio.
  • Define hardware and software standards in conjunction with system owners and stakeholders.
  • Test server performance and provide network performance statistics and reports; develop strategies formaintainingserver infrastructure.
  • Establish andmaintainregular written and in-person communications with the IT executives, decision-makers, stakeholders, department heads, and end usersregardingchanges and pertinent infrastructure activities.
  • Practice IT asset management, including maintenance ofcomponentinventory and related documentation.
  • Ensure quality user experiences for staff, residents, and partners.
  • Act as Tier 4 customer support as needed, includingmonitoringthe ticket queue and resolving incidents.
  • Maintain a practice of continuous improvement.

HOURS OF WORK AND LOCATION:

  • Hours of Work: 9am-5pm M-F
  • Must have on-call availability for two-week rotations every 2 months
  • Location: Primarily operates out of the City Hall Location
  • Ability to travel between City locations

Qualifications JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Five years’ experience managing and delivering infrastructure design and operational excellence.
  • Exceptional knowledge of service and application delivery, as well as successful service level agreement accomplishments.
  • Minimum two years experience managing an infrastructure team.
  • Hands-on experience in troubleshooting software and hardware.
  • Knowledge of current best practices and standards, including Group Policy, Microsoft 365, Azure, backups, and desktop support.
  • Certifications in ITIL, Project Management, Microsoft systems, cybersecurity preferred
  • Public sector experience is a plus.
