Job description

Technical Source is looking for an IT Systems Engineer to support the continued expansion of large manufacturing campus in Clayton, NC. This individual will join the site's infrastructure team and provide hands-on support for the IT systems that enable daily manufacturing operations.

This role is ideal for an IT professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment and has experience supporting infrastructure within pharmaceutical, biotech, food, or other regulated manufacturing facilities. The position combines operational support with project work as the site continues to scale its manufacturing capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, and support network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for infrastructure systems and Windows-based virtual servers.
  • Assist with server room and patch room buildouts.
  • Support SAP and related interfaces, including issue identification and resolution.
  • Partner with site personnel and corporate IT teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Support backup and recovery processes for manufacturing systems.
  • Maintain infrastructure documentation in accordance with corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with equipment vendors and service providers to improve system reliability and performance.
  • Provide occasional after-hours support as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Approximately 5–8 years of experience supporting IT infrastructure in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience supporting network devices, including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless technologies.
  • Experience administering Windows-based servers and virtual environments.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, food, beverage, or other regulated industries.
  • Working knowledge of GMP, FDA, or GxP environments.
  • Experience with VMware and network monitoring tools.
  • Cisco certifications such as CCNA or CCNP.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing or operational technology systems.

Additional Details

  • Monday through Friday schedule; 100% onsite in Clayton, NC.
  • Overtime may be available on a pre-approved basis.
  • Local candidates are strongly preferred.
