Job description

Summary

The ISS Graduate Assistant supports the daily operations of the International Student Services office by assisting international students with general inquiries and resolving ISS holds. The role includes updating student records, processing and releasing holds, and ensuring accurate documentation in SEVIS-related processes. The Graduate Assistant also helps coordinate and support programming initiatives, including webinars, orientation sessions, and in-person events, as well as checking in newly arrived students. This position plays a key role in maintaining efficient service and enhancing the overall student experience.

Essential Functions
  • Assist the Program Manager of International Student Services (ISS) with daily office operations.

  • Maintain accurate data tracking and conduct regular record reviews.

  • Such as updating student's information on FsaAtlas.

  • Provide guidance to students on immigration regulations and visa compliance requirements.

  • Such as CPT, OPT, STEM OPT, SSN

  • Support the planning and execution of international student workshops, seminars, and programming.

  • Assist with new student orientations during the fall and spring semesters.

  • Communicate and disseminate information related to immigration processes and general inquiries.

  • Support international students in their transition and adjustment to Barry University.

  • Refer students to appropriate campus departments for additional support and services.

  • Serve as the first point of contact by managing and filtering visits from international students.

  • Such as scheduling appointments, releasing ISS hold, sharing email templates with additional information.

Qualifications/Requirements
  • Must be a current Barry University graduate student or accepted applicants enrolling in the next proceeding semester.

  • Proficiency in Salesforce, Gecko, and other recruitment software.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Effective organizational, planning and conceptualization skills.

  • Ability to work independently, as well as in groups.

  • Ability to effectively work with and assist students and student's groups.

  • Orientation towards detailed work.
