Job description

About the Consulate

The Consulate General of Israel to the Southwest covers a 5-state region including Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. The Consulate’s mission is to strengthen the bilateral cooperation between Israel and the Southwest U.S. region in the political, economic, academic, cultural, interfaith, and media realms.


This is a full-time position and is located in Houston, Texas with no opportunity to work from home. All candidates must go through a security clearance process and three rounds of interviews.


Role Responsibilities:

• Promoting Israel-Southwest ties in the fields of culture, art, music, and sports, while developing and nurturing collaborations and increasing awareness of Israeli culture.

• Planning, managing and promoting Israeli cultural projects in the fields of performing arts, cinema, literature, theater, visual arts, and more.

• Develop, expand, and strengthen relationships with the region's leading cultural organizations, including museums, galleries, festivals, production companies, publishing houses, nongovernmental organizations, cultural media, theaters, stages, dance troupes, music clubs, conferences, artists residency programs, and cultural departments within educational institutions.

• Fostering ties with corresponding entities in Israel for the purpose of promoting collaborations.

• Identifying platforms and opportunities for integrating and exposing Israeli artists in the Southwest region, including major festivals and cultural programs.

• Assist in organizing delegations for designated visits to Israel.

• Expand cooperation and exchange between cultural and sports institutions and organizations in Israel and the Southwest.

Perform administrative tasks, including supporting the work of various departments, as required.

• Perform tasks beyond regular working hours (including weekends), in addition to occasional travel, as required.


Qualifications:

• An academic degree is required, a relevant degree would be an advantage, in addition to experience in related fields.

• Close familiarity with the Israeli cultural world and maintaining continuous contact with Israeli cultural figures, creators, theater directors, dance institutions, etc.

• Familiarity with the American cultural and sporting world, in terms of cultural institutions, trends, and potential opportunities for collaboration.

• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment, creativity, improvisational skills, initiative, openness and cultural curiosity, ability to perform in front of an audience, and host events.

Excellent organizational skills, including knowledge of production, project management, and budgeting.

• Teamwork and collaboration skills, including a high level of interpersonal communication and excellent human relations.

• Knowledge of social media platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram etc.).
