Job description

Position Overview

Gotham Enterprises Ltd is seeking a committed and compassionate Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) to join our dynamic team. This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to provide specialized therapeutic services to children and families in need, particularly those dealing with developmental disabilities and intellectual challenges. As an LMFT, you will have the flexibility to work remotely, offering in-home and clinic-based therapy sessions to families throughout Islip, New York.

About the Organization

At Gotham Enterprises Ltd, we are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for youth and families grappling with various challenges, including developmental and intellectual disabilities. Our mission prioritizes comprehensive support to primary caregivers, ensuring they have the necessary resources and skills to cultivate a nurturing environment for their children. With a focus on empathy and empowerment, Gotham is a trusted hub for therapeutic interventions and family support services.

Work Environment

This position is innovative in its approach, as it will primarily be remote, allowing for flexible engagement with clients in their home environments. Our outpatient office will serve as an alternative location for group sessions. Team members are expected to maintain high standards of professionalism and collaboration while being adaptable to the varying needs of our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct individual in-home therapy sessions as well as group therapy sessions at the outpatient clinic, ensuring therapeutic practices align with the specific needs of each child and family.
  • Utilize evidence-based strategies to assist children in developing anger management skills, coping mechanisms, social interaction habits, and methods to reduce high-risk behaviors such as self-injurious behavior and physical aggression.
  • Employ a therapeutic approach that empowers youths and their caregivers to enhance decision-making abilities, thereby improving the management of in-home behavioral challenges.
  • Collaborate on a consistent basis with the Child Family Treatment Team and other interdisciplinary professionals to create a holistic support network for each child and family.
  • Maintain thorough documentation, including intake assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes, ensuring all records are submitted within designated time frames.
  • Participate in monthly team meetings, providing thoughtful input and recommendations to improve client care and support services.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Our therapy services cater specifically to children aged 3 to 20 who present with developmental and intellectual disabilities. We recognize the unique challenges these children face and strive to foster an environment that builds their self-esteem, enhances family dynamics, and improves overall well-being.

Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Counseling, Family Therapy, or a closely related field is required.
  • An active and unrestricted LMFT license is essential to practice in New York.
  • Availability for a minimum of 5-10 hours per week during after-school hours (4-7 pm), with flexibility for weekend sessions seen as advantageous.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience working within a framework of positive behavior support, directly impacting child development and familial relationships.
  • Prior experience working with children ages 3-20, particularly those with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), is highly valued.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a registered vehicle to facilitate in-home visits.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check, including fingerprinting, to ensure the safety of our clientele.
Compensation and Benefits

The compensation for this position ranges from $60,000 to $80,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition to competitive salary, Gotham Enterprises Ltd offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

  • A supportive and dynamic work environment fostering collaboration and professional relationships.
  • Ongoing job training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and therapeutic techniques.
  • Group health coverage to ensure your well-being is prioritized.
  • Annual paid time off, giving you the flexibility to recharge.
  • Short and long-term disability options for added security.
  • A 401K retirement plan to help you prepare for the future.
Career Growth Opportunities

At Gotham Enterprises, we believe in nurturing talent and promoting career development. Our organization provides numerous avenues for professional advancement, including specialized training, leadership initiatives, and mentorship programs to help you grow in your career and expand your influence in the field of marriage and family therapy.

Why Join Our Team

By becoming a part of the Gotham family, you are contributing to a mission that values inclusivity, compassion, and expertise as we support families through challenging times. You will find a collaborative team that shares your dedication to transforming lives while also enjoying the flexibility of remote work.
