Job Description:

  • The Global Artisan Innovation Center produces both pre-production and production powertrains and vehicles.
  • These powertrains and vehicles are used by our Product Engineering teams to validate the product and Manufacturing teams to develop the manufacturing processes.
  • The GAIC QE utilizes problem solving methodologies to support build activities.
  • The QE evaluates issues to determine preliminary root cause, establishes issue ownership (Design, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, PPO) and supports the overall issue resolution process.
  • The QE will engage with global and cross functional teams on a regular basis.

What you'll do:
  • Provides technical assistance to technicians.
  • Perform early issue identification, tracking and resolution to ensure segment leadership.
  • Acts as a liaison between GAIC and engineering, manufacturing engineering and suppler quality issues during the build phases.
  • Conducts easel board meetings by leading teams through the global issue resolution process
  • Establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of the job and/or project
  • Coordinates input from internal/external customers to better understand customer needs and/or perceptions
  • Leads easel board review meetings and participates in Issue Resolution Team (IRT) meetings.
  • Interacts with Suppliers and leads containment efforts for Supplier Quality issues including acceptance of 5 phases and submitting cost recovery documentation
  • Ability to read and comprehend blue prints, GD&T, math data and other engineering documentation
  • Ability to read and understand CMM, FARO, Scan reports and other types of critical data as it relates to engineering design and supplier components/sub-assemblies
  • Keeps abreast of current product developments and trends in areas of expertise
  • Actively looks for opportunities to drive change and continuous improvement with current practices & processes.
  • Strives to expand professional knowledge/development thru available training & certifications (i.e. Red X; DFSS etc.)
  • Understand and work within Global Manufacturing System (GMS) Business Plan Deployment (BPD) framework.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • 2+ years of professional experience in Quality Engineering within a manufacturing environment, with a strong understanding of production processes and quality assurance methodologies.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data to identify trends and understand the root causes of problems.
  • Problem-Solving: Identifying issues, developing effective solutions, and implementing corrective and preventative action plans.
  • Statistical Analysis: Using statistical methods and tools (e.g., Minitab) to monitor quality and drive improvements.
  • Quality Tools & Systems: Proficiency with quality methodologies and software, including Six Sigma, Lean, ISO 9001, or Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Technical Knowledge: A strong foundation in engineering principles and the specific manufacturing or software processes relevant to the role.
  • Attention to Detail: The ability to spot even minor flaws and ensure products and processes meet required specifications.

Communication:
  • Communication skills to explain complex technical information to different audiences, including colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Teamwork & Collaboration: Working effectively with diverse teams, from production to management, to achieve quality objectives.
  • Leadership: Guiding teams and projects, influencing others, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Material Systems: Experience in managing engineering materials and specifications.
  • Teamcenter experience: Data system for product lifecycle management and collaboration.
  • Powertrain/Propulsion experience: Fundamental knowledge of Engines transmissions and drive units. Experience in machine operations.

Required / Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, especially in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Automotive, or Engineering fields
  • Open to early‑career candidates and new graduates
  • Foundational automotive or manufacturing knowledge (powertrain or completed vehicle)
