Job description

We are seeking a full-time Associate Tax Attorney with a passion for tax and the law.  The candidate should have a J.D. from an accredited law school AND possess either an LL.M. in taxation, a CPA, or an MST.

Our Northbrook firm places a high importance on being client-focused and requires the candidate to be a team player who consistently produces creative and high-quality work.

Duties:

·         Represent clients in and prepare documents for IRS tax compliance negotiations

·         Prepare and file 1041, 1040, 706 and 709 returns

·         Represent clients in Federal and State tax audits

·         Negotiate with IRS and State representatives, represent clients before Appeals Boards, and file appropriate matters in U.S. Tax Court as necessary

·         Work with clients and families on tax matters and estate planning goals

·         Draft estate planning documents

Requirements:

·         Knowledge of background in tax form preparation for Federal individual, fiduciary, and estate/gift taxes

·         Strong communications and interpersonal skills

·         Proficiency in legal writing and research

·         Ability to learn and understand complex and unique legal matters

·         Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

·         Demonstrated commitment to professionalism, integrity, and client service
