Job description

Iron Worker

An Iron Worker is responsible for installing, assembling, repairing, and maintaining structural steel and iron components used in buildings, bridges, factories, and other construction projects. They read blueprints, position and secure steel beams, columns, and reinforcing bars, and use welding and bolting techniques to complete structural frameworks. Iron workers also inspect materials, operate construction equipment, follow safety regulations, and work at heights to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints and construction plans.
  • Install structural steel beams, columns, and girders.
  • Assemble and secure metal frameworks using bolts, welds, or rivets.
  • Install reinforcing steel (rebar) for concrete structures.
  • Operate cranes, hoists, and power tools safely.
  • Inspect and maintain tools and equipment.
  • Follow OSHA and workplace safety regulations.
  • Work with construction teams to complete projects on schedule.
