CNC Operator

Hey CNC Operators or Light work Machinists!

You would likely start on first shift and then change to second shift with a shift differential. For the right person, second shift leadership is possible. We also provide cross training if you'd like to learn more in the machine trade. Welding is always a plus!

IRD, LLC, a company related to Krauth Electric Company, manufactures industrial test equipment used in the rotating apparatus industry, specifically the IRD Balancing equipment and the Lexseco Core Lost Testers. IRD has been in the global market since the early 1950's. IRD's Louisville, Kentucky facility is the headquarters for its global manufacture and operations.

Pay for this position will be commensurate with experience and have a shift differential added, but will start with a range of $18 - $23.00 per hour. IRD is looking for an individual who will be involved in the manufacture, fabrication, assembly and testing of mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and assemblies for all lines of IRD equipment. Person in this position must be willing to work either first or second shift and be able to read mechanical drawings and assemble accordingly and have industrial assembly experience. It is preferred that the person has machine shop, fabrication, welding, painting or similar industrial background.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for learning and performing the manufacture and assembly of any IRD parts and products including balancing equipment, core loss testers, etc. by doing setup, adjustments and operation of milling and turning centers. Operations must maintain close tolerances and finish dimensions.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for learning to and/or reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, mechanical drawings, set up sheets or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece.

Responsible for learning to and/or properly operating measuring tools including: calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, telescope gauges, scales, protractors, dial indicators and other measuring devices.

Responsible for learning to and/or properly reading blue prints, work orders, engineering routes, product drawings and set up sheets.

Learns to and/or sets up machining equipment, changes tools and fixtures, tooling, etc., necessary to make setups.

Receives instructions from supervisor, blueprints, engineering routes, product drawings and setup sheets.

Checks and records dimension as required. Fills out QC sheets.

Learns to and/or checks work with scales, gages, micrometers, protractors, calipers and other measuring instruments as required.

Verifies conformance of finished product to specifications.

Must be able to learn to and to check dimensions to tolerances from .005” to .002”.

Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.

Assists and cross trains into other areas of the mechanical shop as is necessary to maintain production levels.

Responsible for cleanliness of work area and organization of tools and equipment.

May assist in routine maintenance of facilities.

Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

High School or G.E.D

PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE:

Experience with Fusion 360 preferred.

Haas and Mazak experience a plus.

Industrial machining or welding experience helpful.

One to three months related experience and/or training preferred or equivalent
