Job description

Location: United States | 100% Travel Required | Temporary Employee
Aerones is seeking skilled Rope Access Technicians to support our operations on wind farm towers.

Rope Access Technicians are responsible for establishing safe, code-compliant rope access systems that support robotic operations at height. When wind turbine blade damage — such as complex structural composite flaws — falls outside the scope of standard robotic repair capabilities, certified Level 3 RATs step onto the ropes to perform hands-on manual interventions, combining traditional rope access expertise.

This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of rope access and robotics, playing a critical role in the safety, precision, and success of wind turbine repair operations.

What You'll Do

  • Perform blade repairs in accordance with technical instructions, standards, and guidelines.
  • Travel 100% on a rotational basis to wind farms throughout the U.S. - cross country travel by air or truck
  • Ensure strict compliance with all safety regulations, protocols, and industry standards.
  • Prepare and submit comprehensive repair reports and other required technical documentation.
  • Ensure the accuracy of time tracking and reporting for all working hours and project tasks.
  • Operate and manage company vehicles, including vans, and pulling trailers as needed.
  • Conduct daily toolbox meetings with all relevant on-site technicians to ensure alignment and safety.
  • Participate in and follow up on project meetings both on-site and remotely (via Google Meet) in coordination with the back-office.
  • Follow-up on delivery and shipping coordination, control, registration, and approval of arriving goods.
  • Will be working with SIKA Filler, Hontek Leading Edge Repair, Alexit Leading Edge Repair and Resin.

Requirements

  • Experience in the inspection and repair of wind turbine blades from various leading manufacturers
  • SPRAT or IRATA Rope Access Level 3 certification
  • 3+ years of blade repair experience
  • GWO Basic Safety Training
  • Minimum blade B / Basic blade repair certificate
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Certification in Personal Safety when Working with Epoxy and Isocyanates
  • Vestas BTO/ESQ/LOTO 2
  • SGRE SGTT
  • GE Easy Access/QEW
  • CAT 4 & 5 damage experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, and dust.
  • Ability to travel extensively and work in remote field locations.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform field inspection activities for extended periods.
  • Ability to safely wear and utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with manufacturer and company guidelines.
  • Availability to work in heights up to 350 and 400 feet.

Safety-Sensitive Position Requirements:

This is a safety-sensitive position involving the operation of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), driving company vehicles, and independent field work at remote wind farm locations.

Employees must be able to safely perform all essential job functions without impairment that could affect judgment, alertness, coordination, decision-making, or operational performance.

Because this role is performed independently with limited supervision, employees must be capable of assessing risks, following established procedures, and responding appropriately to changing site conditions and emergencies.

Candidates must comply with all company, client, FAA, OSHA, and site-specific drug and alcohol policies, including pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion, and post-incident testing requirements.

Benefits

What We Offer:

  • Prevailing Wage Projects
  • Fully paid Travel and Lodging for Projects across US
  • Per Diem
  • Work for a Global Team pioneering the future of wind turbine technology
