Job description

Position Title:Custodian I - Ames National LaboratoryJob Group:MeritRequired Minimum Qualifications: Ability to read, write, and follow instructions.Job Description:

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The Custodian I will perform general custodial duties including collecting recycled paper, dusting, cleaning, sweeping, mopping, emptying waste containers, checking and replacing restroom supplies, checking and replacing lights, stripping and refinishing floors, and cleaning floors with auto scrubber and auto burnisher. The duties of this position require the ability to lift, carry, and/or move up to 50lbs. occasionally, and up to 25 lbs. frequently. Frequent bending, squatting, and stooping is also required. The ability to attend required courses regarding personal protective equipment (PPE), wear and maintain PPE, and fully adhere to the requirements set forth in the Personal Protective Equipment Program is required to perform the duties of this position.

Hours for this position are Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous Custodial experience
  • Experience operating an auto scrubber (either ride-on or walk-behind)
  • Experience operating an auto burnisher.
  • Experience shampooing carpets and using carpet extractors.
  • Experience stripping, waxing and refinishing floors.
