Job description

IT Infrastructure Engineer 

Position Overview

TEKsystems is seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer on a contract to hire basis to support ongoing operational workload and upcoming infrastructure initiatives. This role requires a technical engineer with strong hands-on experience across systems, infrastructure, virtualization, security, and cloud technologies.

  • The engineer will work closely with the Infrastructure Architect and internal IT teams to maintain system stability, reliability, security, and performance across the environment.

Core Responsibilities

Infrastructure Administration & Support

  • Manage physical and virtual infrastructure environments
  • Support servers, storage platforms, networking infrastructure, virtualization technologies, and cloud services
  • Monitor infrastructure performance, capacity, availability, and operational health

Troubleshooting & Incident Response

  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, system, and network issues
  • Support both on-premises and cloud-based environments
  • Participate in incident response activities and operational support efforts

Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery

  • Assist with disaster recovery planning and testing
  • Support business continuity initiatives
  • Participate in recovery and resiliency efforts when required

Security Administration

  • Implement and maintain infrastructure security controls

Support administration of: 

  • Firewalls
  • IDS/IPS solutions
  • Patch management processes
  • Security hardening initiatives
  • Ensure infrastructure systems align with security and compliance requirements
  • Microsoft & Virtualization Technologies

Deploy, maintain, and support: 

  • Windows Server
  • Active Directory

Collaboration

  • Partner with the Infrastructure Architect and internal IT teams

Required Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in Infrastructure Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related disciplines
  • Expert-level infrastructure administration experience
