Responsibilities

Peridontal Care and Diagnosis

Accurate probing, charting and calibration with the Doctor

Proper diagnosis of gingivitis, periodontal disease, and need for scaling and root planing

Clear patient communication about perio conditions, treatment options, and insurance requirements

Patient care and education

Delivering prophylaxis, periodontal maintenance and adjunctive therapies (fluoride, sealants, laser, arestin etc...)

Using co-diagnosis techniques with the doctor to build trust and treatment acceptance

Providing pre and post-op instructions in patient-friendly language

Educating patients on home care techniques and adjunct products

Technical Skills

Taking diagnostic-quality radiographs and intraoral photographs

Utilizing the intraoral camera for patient education

Performing local anesthesia when appropriate

Using digital systems such as iTero scans to education on invisalign and restorative needs

Practice Growth and Communication

Completing effective handoffs

Supporting same-day treatment by identifying opportunities and communicating with the doctor and front office team

Strive for 90% reappointment rate

Qualifications

Associate’s Degree from a school certified by the Commission on Dental Accreditation, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferred

Current Dental Hygienist licensure

CPR certified

At least 1-2 years of experience in dental hygiene

Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and all dentistry safety guidelines

Excellent communication and customer service skills.
