Job description

The Client Portfolio Associate is a key member of the Client Portfolio Management (CPM) group and broader sales teams, with a primary focus on portfolio analysis and competitive intelligence. The role develops differentiated insights on investment strategy positioning, performance, and relative value to strengthen sales engagement and enhance client communication. The role collaborates closely with DoubleLine investment and distribution teams to align investment expertise with client needs and sales priorities. Over time, the individual is expected to build deep DoubleLine investment strategy and financial market expertise and evolve into a subject matter expert. While initially non-client facing, the role offers a clear path to future client engagement.

Job Functions

  • Conduct in-depth portfolio analysis to support Client Portfolio Managers and distribution teams, including performance attribution, portfolio positioning, and key risk and return drivers across investment strategies. Develop and maintain competitive intelligence through peer fund analysis, consultant research, Morningstar data, holdings comparisons, performance analysis, and differentiated product positioning.
  • Partner with CPMs, Product Specialists, and investment teams to produce high-quality, data-driven fund and investment-related content for sales teams and client materials (e.g., client presentations, chart creation, commentaries, and analytics).
  • Research market trends, investment themes, and competitive developments to inform portfolio analysis, product positioning, and client communications.
  • Build expertise across DoubleLine investment strategies and financial market subject matter expertise over time, with a defined path toward deeper product ownership and eventual client engagement
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 2-5 years of experience in asset management, investment research, portfolio analytics, client portfolio management, institutional sales support, or related investment functions.
  • Strong understanding of fixed income markets, asset management, investment products, and portfolio construction principles.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across investment and distribution teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and execute with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Proactive, intellectually curious, and motivated to develop deep investment and product expertise.
  • Series 7 and Series 63 licenses is a plus.
  • Morningstar Direct experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Bloomberg terminal and Macrobond (or similar financial market/charting platforms) preferred.
  • Interest or progress towards CFA and/or CAIA preferred.

Base Salary Range

The estimated base salary range for this position is $110,000 -$130,000. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
