The Job
Calling All Interested Students!
San Bernardino County's Sheriff's Department, Coroner Division has an exciting internship opportunity for students interested in death investigations, law enforcement, forensics, or a field that is closely related. This is a perfect opportunity for students looking to enter the criminal justice field and apply their coursework with this hands-on internship opportunity.
Students will rotate within the Coroner's Division and learn and observe the following:
  • How to do an effective investigation.
  • Observe the operations of working in the morgue.
  • Learn how to work with the indigent and unidentified population.
  • Learn how to perform clerical tasks associated with the Coroner's office and learn the role of a Public Administrator.

This is an unpaid opportunity with great exposure to the County! Students must be enrolled at one of the following colleges or universities:

CONDITIONS OF THE INTERNSHIP
Background: Applicants selected for these positions must pass a background investigation.
Hours: 120 (one hundred twenty) internship hours for students who do not have a course requirement. Hours will be extended only if the course requirement has a minimum hour stipulation.
Sponsorship: Please note San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.

Minimum Requirements
Must be enrolled in criminology, anatomy, pathology, forensic science, criminalistics, or a closely related field from one of our recognized colleges, universities, or trade schools.

Students are encouraged to provide a letter expressing interest in the Coroner/Sheriff internship program.
