Job description

As the Supervisor - Field Inventory, you will be responsible for the daily supervision of a team delivering on-site inventory management services, including Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI), vending, and customer support activities. You will be accountable for team performance, operational execution, and customer satisfaction across assigned accounts. You will partner with Sales and Operations to ensure service excellence, continuous improvement in field execution, and management of key or complex customer accounts as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily, coach and develop Technician - Field Inventory team to ensure efficient and effective service delivery; manage performance expectations, productivity, and quality standards for direct reports; conduct field observations, ride-alongs, and regular feedback sessions; support hiring, onboarding, and training of new employees; Manage timekeeping and attendance for direct reports (e.g., UKG) Ensure consistent execution of VMI/Kanban processes including on-site inventory counts and reconciliation at customer sites
  • Ensure vending machine inventory, maintenance, and system functionality are effectively managed
  • Monitor key service metrics (inventory accuracy, replenishment performance, customer service levels
  • Maintain and ensure accurate digital documentation for each customer's location, including site requirements and inventory mapping
  • Support customer presentations and communicate value of inventory management solutions Ensure team identifies and escalates new sales opportunities within customer accounts
  • Participate in customer issue resolution and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Supervise technician workload and territory coverage to ensure optimal service delivery
  • Evaluate team capacity and align resources to support new and existing VMI opportunities 
  • Utilize workflow tools and reporting to monitor productivity and adjust deployment
  • Serve as escalation point for complex technical, service, or customer issues
  • Provide Level 1 support for eStock, vending, and related systems
  • Ensure adherence to inventory control processes, barcoding, and ERP alignment
  • May serve as Technician - Field Inventory on key or strategic accounts; provide field coverage during resource gaps or high-demand periods
  • Maintain hands-on expertise in systems, processes, and customer workflows
  • Oversee fleet management for direct reports.

Qualifications:

  • High School Degree or Equivalent required; Associate's Degree preferred
    Licenses/Certificates/Designations - Indicate Specifics - Valid Driver's License 
  • 3 years of experience working with electrical, construction, mechanical product inventory
  • 3 years' experience resolving technical, equipment or service-related issues 
  • Strong leadership and coaching capability
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and make decisions quickly
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills 
  • Attention to detail and continuous improvement mindset
  • Ability to foster a team environment and maintain strong working relationships
  • Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office; workflow tools preferred)
  • Strong customer service background and ability to meet emerging customer needs 
  • 1 year supervisory or team lead experience preferred
  • Experience with Vendor Management Inventory (VMI), Kanban system or field service preferred
  • Ability to travel 75% - 100%

Working Environment: Outside Sales - Work is generally performed in an office environment, but employee may need to travel to customer sites or warehouse facilities.  Driving may be required for an extended period of time with frequent stops and starts.   Can be exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
 

Physical Requirements:

  • Work is physically strenuous and workers are required to lift heavy packages up to 50 pounds.
  • Employee required to walk long distances repeatedly throughout the day.  
  • Employee required to use hand tools.
  • Employee uses heavy machinery (e.g., forklift, etc.).

For eligible positions, compensation may include participation in a bonus or sales incentive plan,subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plan documents. For certain sales roles, Wesco also offers a commission structure that provides additional compensation based on sales results, as defined by the applicable commission plan.
