Job description

An international producer and supplier of corrosion-resistant glass-fiber-reinforced pipe (GRP) systems is seeking an Inventory Control Supervisor to join the team. This is a newly created position resulting from continued growth and expansion. The Inventory Control Supervisor will oversee inventory accuracy, receiving, warehouse processes, and a team of approximately 10 employees while ensuring SAP serves as the single source of truth for inventory and warehouse transactions.


This is a hands-on leadership role requiring someone with strong SAP inventory, warehouse, and receiving experience who can troubleshoot transaction issues, train team members, and support day-to-day warehouse operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee inventory control and warehouse processes to maintain accurate stock levels and support uninterrupted manufacturing and maintenance operations.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop a team of approximately 10 warehouse, inventory, and receiving associates.
  • Ensure incoming materials are accurately received, verified, documented, and entered into SAP promptly to support three-way matching and timely invoice processing.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for SAP inventory and warehouse transactions, troubleshooting failed transactions and assisting team members with system-related issues.
  • Maintain SAP as the single source of truth by reconciling system inventory against physical stock and correcting discrepancies.
  • Manage material receipts, transfers, issues, and other inventory transactions, including issuing materials against applicable work orders.
  • Perform and oversee daily cycle counts, monthly inventory counts, and annual physical inventory.
  • Monitor inventory aging, turnover, stock levels, and supplier performance, including on-time and in-full delivery and lead times.
  • Maintain and update min/max levels, safety stock, reorder points, and other inventory planning parameters.
  • Identify and resolve failed inventory transactions, including SAP COGI-related issues.
  • Process and monitor purchase requisitions and support procurement-related SAP transactions as needed.
  • Manage blocked, non-conforming, and discrepant inventory and coordinate resolution with Procurement, Accounting, Operations, and other departments.
  • Develop and improve warehouse layouts, storage utilization, inventory processes, and standard operating procedures.
  • Implement inventory management best practices, including Kanban, Just-in-Time, barcoding, and other process improvements where appropriate.
  • Prepare inventory reports and maintain Excel-based reporting required by leadership and Strategic Sourcing.
  • Maintain 5S, safety, security, housekeeping, and warehouse organization standards.
  • Operate a forklift and provide hands-on warehouse support when needed.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Procurement, Accounting, Project Management, Sales, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Perform additional projects and duties as needed to support overall business operations.


SAP Experience:

Strong, hands-on SAP inventory and receiving experience is required. Candidates should be comfortable explaining the SAP transactions and workflows they personally use and have the ability to train and troubleshoot for others.

Relevant transaction experience may include:

  • Receiving / Inventory: MIGO, MI01โ€“MI07
  • Inventory Reporting: MB51, MB52, MB5B, MB5L and related inventory reports
  • Purchasing / Requisitions: ME21N, ME23N, ME51N, ME57, ME59N, ME2M, ME80FN
  • Inventory Issue Resolution: COGI-related transactions and reconciliation of failed inventory movements


Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, logistics, receiving, procurement, or a related function within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Previous experience supervising, coaching, or leading warehouse/inventory teams strongly preferred.
  • Strong hands-on SAP inventory, warehouse, and receiving experience required.
  • Ability to troubleshoot SAP transactions, explain inventory workflows, and train team members on proper system usage.
  • Strong understanding of inventory accuracy, cycle counting, physical inventory, replenishment, and warehouse management practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; Power BI experience is a plus.
  • Forklift experience and willingness to provide hands-on support to warehouse operations.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment with a boots-on-the-ground leadership style.
  • Comfortable working in a warehouse environment that may be hot and without air conditioning and requires extended walking.
  • Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple departments and functional teams.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required; German is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • APICS CPIM/CSCP, ISM CPSM, Lean, or related certifications preferred.
