Job description

Support the Flow Behind Precision Manufacturing

At 5th Axis, we're global leaders in precision machining, automated production, and advanced manufacturing solutions. From innovative workholding systems to complex machined components, we design, build, and deliver products that empower machinists and manufacturers worldwide.

Every part, tool, and finished product must be in the right place at the right time. We're looking for a dependable Material Handler to keep materials moving accurately and efficiently across our warehouse, production, and shipping operations. This position will also provide trained backup coverage for saw operations when production needs require it.

Whether you're beginning your manufacturing career or bringing several years of material-handling experience, this is an opportunity to build valuable skills and play an important role in keeping production moving.

What the Job Looks Like
  • You stage the correct materials for production based on work orders, pick lists, and current priorities.
  • You transport raw materials, components, work in process, and finished products safely between departments.
  • You use pallet jacks, forklifts, scanners, and other material-handling equipment.
  • You confirm materials are properly identified, stored, and delivered to the correct location.
  • You record material movements accurately in Epicor or applicable inventory systems.
  • You identify material shortages, location errors, or staging problems and help get them resolved.
  • You adjust to changing production needs while keeping storage and staging areas clean and organized.
  • When coverage is required, you operate saw equipment safely, cut material to production requirements, and verify the completed work.
What You'll Do Here
  • Transport materials, parts, work in process, and finished products to designated warehouse, production, Quality Control, and shipping areas.
  • Stage materials accurately and on time to support production schedules and shipping requirements.
  • Verify materials against work orders, pick lists, labels, and other instructions.
  • Load and unload materials using pallet jacks, forklifts, carts, and other approved equipment.
  • Complete scanner, Epicor, or other inventory-system transactions for material movement.
  • Maintain organized inventory locations, material-storage areas, and production staging areas.
  • Follow established procedures for the safe handling, storage, and identification of materials.
  • Identify and report material shortages, inventory discrepancies, damaged items, and staging issues.
  • Support inventory activities, including cycle-count preparation and location corrections.
  • Respond to changing production priorities and help ensure materials remain available where needed.
  • Communicate material-related issues clearly with Warehouse, Production, Quality, Shipping, and supervision.
  • Provide backup saw-operation coverage as assigned and after completing required training.
  • Operate saw and related production equipment safely to cut material according to work instructions and production requirements.
  • Verify the material, cut requirements, and quantities before and after completing assigned saw work.
  • Perform basic visual inspection and deburring of cut material as required.
  • Record labor time, quantities, and material usage accurately in Epicor or other applicable production records.
  • Report product discrepancies, equipment malfunctions, and safety concerns promptly.
  • Assist with training and supporting other employees based on experience and operational needs.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Follow all applicable safety, quality, equipment, PPE, and company requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to material and inventory accuracy.
  • The ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Dependability and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • The ability to organize work and respond to changing priorities.
  • Basic math skills and the ability to understand material quantities and cutting instructions.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn Epicor, scanners, or similar inventory systems.
  • The ability to operate material-handling and production equipment safelyโ€”or the willingness and ability to be trained and certified.
  • Clear communication skills and the judgment to report discrepancies or problems promptly.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may also be considered.
Experience That Will Help You Succeed
  • Previous material-handling, warehouse, inventory, shipping, or manufacturing experience.
  • Experience staging materials in support of production operations.
  • Forklift experience or current forklift certification.
  • Experience operating industrial saws or similar production equipment.
  • Experience using Epicor, barcode scanners, ERP systems, or inventory-management software.
  • Familiarity with work orders, pick lists, inventory locations, and cycle counts.
  • Experience coordinating material priorities or troubleshooting shortages and staging issues.
  • Previous experience is welcomed but not required for candidates who demonstrate reliability, attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a willingness to learn.
Who This Role Is Ideal For
  • Someone beginning a warehouse or manufacturing career who wants hands-on training and advancement opportunities.
  • An experienced material handler who understands how material flow affects production.
  • A dependable employee who takes ownership of accuracy, organization, and timely delivery.
  • Someone comfortable working across warehouse and production environments.
  • A safety-conscious employee who is comfortable learning and operating production equipment.
  • A team-oriented problem-solver who can adjust when production priorities change.
  • An experienced warehouse professional interested in taking on greater coordination, troubleshooting, and training responsibilities.
Why You'll Love Working With Us

  • 100% company-paid employee medical premiums
  • Company-paid life and disability insurance
  • 401(k) with up to a 4% company match

  • Hands-on training in manufacturing, inventory systems, material-handling equipment, and saw operation
  • Meaningful opportunities for career development and advancement
  • A strong culture of internal growthโ€” 90% of our managers have been promoted from within
  • A supportive, non-corporate environment where your ideas matter
  • Fun and meaningful team events
