Material Handler II - Tewksbury, MA (Contract)
[About the Role]
Join a dynamic warehouse and distribution team as a Material Handler II, specializing in advanced material handling, shipping, and export control. Drive operational excellence while preparing and processing domestic and international shipments, maintaining compliance with U.S. export regulations. This role offers hands-on experience with global logistics, opportunities to suggest process improvements, and a collaborative, fast-paced work environment.
[Responsibilities]
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials against purchase orders and documentation
- Accurately pick, pack, stage, and ship materials to meet work orders and customer requirements
- Prepare and process domestic and international shipments, including packaging and export labeling
- Generate and review export documentation: commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and certificates of origin
- Submit Electronic Export Information (EEI) filings via AES
- Process export entries through ACE portal, ensuring regulatory compliance
- Validate HTS/Schedule B classifications and maintain documentation accuracy
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and carriers for timely shipments
- Complete ERP/WMS inventory and shipping transactions with precision
- Conduct cycle counts and assist with inventory reconciliation tasks
- Operate forklifts and material handling equipment with current certification
- Maintain organized records per company and regulatory requirements
- Identify and implement process improvements; assist in training junior team members
[Required Skills and Experience]
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years in warehouse, material handling, or shipping roles
- Demonstrated experience with international shipping and export documentation
- Working knowledge of AES filings and ACE portal processes
- Familiarity with ERP and warehouse management systems
- Strong inventory control and cycle counting skills
- Forklift operation certification (or ability to obtain)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform in a high-activity environment
[Preferred Skills]
- Knowledge of Incoterms and trade compliance regulations
- Hazardous materials shipping certification (IATA, IMDG, DOT)
- Experience in regulated manufacturing or distribution environments
