Shop Attendant

We are seeking a reliable, hands-on warehouse associate for the Shop Attendant position at Benedict Sales & Service to support our West Salem, WI and Winona, MN branch locations! As part of our family-owned company, you'll help keep our service operations running smoothly by assisting with shipping and receiving, deliveries, inventory, shop organization, and basic equipment support. Position Summary

The Shop Attendant is responsible for a variety of work in our shop, facilities, and field that pertains to shipping & receiving, deliveries, inventory control and facility upkeep. This position does not have direct reports, primarily performs work independently with occasional team/group work environments and is under direct supervision.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Ships and receives products, materials, and supplies.
  • Stocks receivables and accurately updates the inventory database.
  • Maintains an accurate log of daily deliveries and warehouse locations.
  • Collaborates and communicates with technicians, office staff and others involved in the shipment and receipt of products.
  • Executes daily pickups and deliveries of assorted materials, parts, and equipment.
  • Operates a company vehicle to deliver parts, equipment, and/or materials to job sites.
  • Performs basic repairs on equipment and tools.
  • Ensures the shop, facility grounds, buildings and other assigned areas are kept clean, safe, and orderly.
  • Conducts physical inventories according to company policy. Verifies inventory records and corrects discrepancies.
  • Orders materials needed to restock shop supplies and maintain minimum inventory levels.
  • Distributes shop materials in accordance with company policy and procedure.
  • Demonstrates effective communication, assertiveness, versatility, and follow-through in responding to internal and external customer needs.
  • Sets and achieves individual goals and supports department goals by contributing to a team environment.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, timeliness, accuracy, and projects a positive company image in all assigned duties.
  • Complies with all company and industry safety standards.

Education/Experience/Training Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Vocational/technical school training or apprenticeship a plus.

Physical Demands

Stationary Position: Must be able to maintain a stationary position for 2-4 hours while traveling between jobsites.

Move: Continually required to walk inside and outside jobsites and other work locations.

Operate: Frequently operates a commercial vehicle, power tools, and a mobile device. Occasionally operates a computer and other office productivity machinery. Repetitive finger motion, hand dexterity, outward and upward arm extension, and elbow bending are required.

Ascend/Descend: Frequently required to ascend/descend stairs and ladders to access all areas of equipment and jobsites including rooftops.

Positions self: Frequently required to bend, stoop and access small, confined spaces.

Communicate: Frequently communicates with internal and external customers using spoken word and the ability to perceive the natural sounds of normal speaking levels. Must be able to exchange accurate information through oral and written communication and make fine discriminations in sound. Must be able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.

Observe/Inspect: Able to observe details at close range, distance range, peripherally and with the ability to adjust focus. Frequently utilizes visual acuity to operate vehicles, power tools & equipment and read technical information.

Transport: Frequently required to lift/push/carry items up to 50 pounds.

Exposed to: Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts. Frequently exposed to loud noise and vibration consistent with use of power tools and equipment. Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.
