Overview

Pharmacy Inventory Technician

Job Summary:

The Pharmacy Inventory Technician receives procures and maintains drug inventory and all drug purchasing inventory distribution and cost records for Pharmacy. This position maintains knowledge in all aspects of pharmacy policies.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Receive goods and check against purchasing records. Enter receipts returns and distributions into the organization's computerized inventory system following defined processes and procedures. Maintain invoicing for all drug and supply accounts

Cooperation/ coordination with operations to maintain good communication understanding of business needs and provide support as needed.

Sort and stock inventory on shelves every day when orders are received.

Periodically coordinate review of inventory for expired damaged or overstocked medications and coordinate disposal or return through designated channels

Ensure the accuracy of computerized inventory records. Perform cycle counts on a regular basis to validate physical inventoried items against system records. Investigate variances and report on findings to management.

Conduct periodic physical inventories in compliance with standards set by management.

Prepare the pharmacy department for physical inventory by updating shelf locations/labels printing and notating count sheets and organizing drug products by lot number. Enter completed inventory count into the database and investigate discrepancies.

Work with accounting or manager to resolve all reconciliation issues as they arise

Oversee required responses to and management of medication recall notifications in conjunction with the pharmacy manager.

Participate and perform other duties as assigned by leadership

As a pharmacy technician and employee maintain good company loyalty set a good example and project a healthy positive attitude.

Performs duties and responsibilities according to the philosophy and standards of SelectRx including conveying courtesy respect enthusiasm and positive attitudes in work situations with clients peers and visitors; maintains client and associate confidentiality. This individual is responsible for understanding all the applicable policies and procedures of the department necessary to perform essential job functions as well as the employee handbook. The position may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those stated in this description as directed by the Pharmacy Manager or Director

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Ability to handle challenging situations in a professional and proficient manner utilizing available resources and critical thinking skills

Demonstrate customer service and customer relationship building skills

Excellent verbal presentation and written communication skills

Great attention to detail

Strong proficiency in the use of MS Office software which includes Excel and Word

Proficiency in reading writing and speaking English is required

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required

Minimum 1 year of experience in inventory control or as a pharmacy tech required

3 years of experience in inventory control preferred

Direct experience in retail mail order or specialty pharmacy as a pharmacy technician is a plus

Knowledge of standard medical terminology is a plus

Certificates/Licenses/Registration

Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred

Associates assigned to the Indianapolis IN Facility: Indiana State Pharmacy Technician license or active Tech in Training license required

Associates assigned to the Monaca PA Facility: Pennsylvania State Pharmacy Technician license or active Technician Trainee license required

Associates assigned to the Olathe KS Facility: Kansas State Pharmacy Technician license required

Financial Responsibilities (budget revenue):

This position has no budget responsibility authority and/or level of control.

Physical Requirements:

This position involves work in a production or warehouse environment and requires regular presence on the production floor.

The role requires:

  • At least 8 hours of standing and walking throughout the workday

  • Frequent movement between workstations and production areas

  • Reoccurring bending stooping reaching and climbing stairs or ladders

  • Use of hands and arms for handling operating or monitoring equipment
