Inventory Control Specialist

Location: North Chicago, Illinois
Employment Type: 1-Year W2 Contract | Full-Time | Non-Exempt
Pay Rate: $19.47–$20.47/hour

Role Overview

BEPC is seeking an Inventory Control Specialist to support a client’s distribution operations with inventory control, order processing, discrepancy resolution, and customer order management.

In this role, you will work across inventory and order management systems including SAP, Manhattan, and ADMS to maintain inventory accuracy, investigate discrepancies, resolve order issues, and support daily distribution activities. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working with complex computer applications, and able to solve problems efficiently in a fast-paced warehouse and distribution environment.

This position may support multiple sites and requires the ability to work in cold-storage/freezer environments at -20°C or colder.


Key Responsibilities

  • Audit inventory within Manhattan, SAP, and ADMS to maintain accurate and balanced inventory records.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies identified during daily order processing.
  • Manage customer order queues from affiliates and direct customers and release deliveries to meet shipping expectations.
  • Resolve orders placed on hold due to inventory status and cancel orders when requested.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot system error logs within Manhattan, ADMS, and SAP.
  • Process rejected, expired, and short-dated products according to established procedures.
  • Support Quality and Manufacturing teams with materials requiring destruction, rework, or quarantine.
  • Identify operational problems, resolve issues when possible, and notify appropriate personnel when escalation is required.
  • Compile, analyze, and report key performance indicators and operational metrics for Distribution.
  • Provide support to Distribution and Receiving teams during periods of peak demand.
  • Assist with employee training activities.
  • Use databases and computer systems to retrieve customer, company, order, and inventory information.
  • Handle inbound and outbound communications while providing accurate information and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Support the effectiveness and ongoing maintenance of the quality system.
  • Work effectively across multiple sites as business needs require.


Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience with inventory control, warehousing, shipping, distribution, logistics, order processing, or supply chain operations.
  • Experience working with inventory or enterprise systems; experience with SAP, Manhattan, and/or ADMS is highly desirable.
  • Ability to investigate inventory discrepancies and resolve operational issues accurately and efficiently.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to follow detailed instructions and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve floor and distribution issues in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work with complex computer applications, databases, and reference materials.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other PC-based business applications.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret operational data, tracking information, trends, and performance metrics.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations accurately.
  • Ability to read, understand, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Knowledge of quality systems and operational metrics.
  • Ability to remain organized and accurate while working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Knowledge of warehouse, shipping, transportation, logistics, and planning workflows.
  • Ability to work in a cold-storage/freezer environment at -20°C or colder.
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime as necessary.
