Strategic Group is a full‑scale marketing agency specializing in experiential programming and sales support initiatives. For more than two decades, we’ve built a reputation for creating meaningful connections between brands, retail customers, and hard‑to‑reach consumers through innovative, insight‑driven activations.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Whitehaven Ambassador serves as the dedicated in‑market brand authority for Whitehaven Sauvignon Blanc in the primary market of Boston, MA and secondary seasonal markets of Cape Cod, MA & Newport, RI, representing the brand’s premium image and values across both trade and consumer touch points. This role is responsible for elevating brand visibility and advocacy by building strong relationships with key on‑premise accounts, engaging distributor and sales partners, and creating memorable consumer experiences that drive trial, affinity, and loyalty. The Ambassador will recruit, hire, train, and lead a team of Brand Sampling Advocates who will authentically connect Whitehaven to its target audience, ensuring best‑in‑class education, execution, and storytelling in every interaction.

Qualified candidates will possess a strong understanding of the local market, consumer lifestyle, and cultural landscape, along with a passion for premium wine and the ability to influence through creativity, professionalism, and strategic insight.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The Whitehaven Brand Ambassador is responsible for driving brand growth, advocacy, and visibility across key markets through trade relationships, consumer engagement, and strategic execution. Core functions include:

  • Maintain a deep understanding of the category, competitive landscape, and emerging trends to inform brand strategy and execution.
  • Develop and implement trade and consumer advocacy initiatives, including educational presentations, storytelling, and brand experiences that align with the four advocacy pillars: Availability, Visibility, Advocacy, and Promotion.
  • Build and nurture relationships with key accounts, distributor partners, sales teams, and local trade influencers to ensure strategic alignment and excellence in execution.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and lead a sampling team that authentically represents Whitehaven and connects with target consumers.
  • Plan, execute, and evaluate consumer activations and trade events, ensuring best‑in‑class experiences and effective post‑event debriefs.
  • Serve as a local brand champion—advocating for Whitehaven across events, the on‑premise community, and digital platforms, including social media engagement and content creation.
  • Partner with Gallo and distributor sales teams on joint business planning, KPI achievement, and reporting of performance metrics and competitive insights.
  • Support the development and deployment of POS, marketing collateral, and digital marketing initiatives to amplify brand presence.
  • Manage travel, expense, and activation budgets with integrity and in compliance with company policies.
  • Demonstrate intrapreneurship, innovation, and accountability in all aspects of role execution.

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 3 years of Gallo winery marketing, sales, or distributor sales experience OR Bachelor’s Degree plus 3 years of relevant Spirits, Brand Sales, Hospitality, Culinary, Mixology, Supplier/Wholesaler, Agency Ambassador, or Tasting Room experience OR High School Diploma plus 7 years of relevant experience in the above fields.
  • Strong understanding of the local market, key accounts, and trade dynamics within the beverage alcohol industry.
  • Demonstrated passion and curiosity for wine, with a strong depth of product knowledge.
  • Experience in event, beverage or hospitality management.
  • Experience managing owned social media channels and networks.
  • Valid driver’s license, safe driving record, and a reliable vehicle. Must pass an MVR check and obtain any required state driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older and able to obtain any required local or state liquor license.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time for training, meetings, or events, in addition to mandatory local market travel requirements 100% of the time.
  • Must have the ability to lift at least 50lbs and stand for long periods of time.
  • Must live in Boston County.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One or more recognized wine certifications (e.g., WSET Level 1 & 2, Sommelier, or equivalent).
  • Experience representing a premium wine or spirits brand as an ambassador or educator.
  • Established professional network within the beverage alcohol industry and/or local market.
  • Proven experience selling and activating wine or spirits brands through trade and consumer events.
  • Exceptional presentation and storytelling skills with a creative, entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to write reports, correspondence, and press releases, and to present to varied audiences with ease.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort with digital collaboration tools like Canva.
  • Analytical ability to interpret data, calculate figures and percentages, and solve practical problems with minimal standardization.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and strategically, take initiative, and hold self and others accountable.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP AND EVALUATION

Reports directly to and is evaluated by the company’s Senior Director of Operations.
