Day Shift Auto Offer, EPIC Backfill. Must have current Epic experience.

40hrs, 8wks, 18/17 start date.

Nestled on the Central California Coast, our facility has been providing care to our community since 1959. Our 162-bed acute care facility includes a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and county designated trauma center. Job Summary:

Works with the Charge RN and Rad Techs to assure coordination and provision of nursing care to patients on specified shifts.

Assists with interventional radiology and other invasive studies or treatments.

This position is represented by CNA.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience: Associate Degree(A.S.) or equivalent: Required

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing: Preferred

One year recent Emergency Department, ICU or Surgery Department RN experience: Required

Successful completion of Basic Dysrhythmia Course: Required

One year Interventional Radiology experience: Required

Licenses/Certifications:

Current RN license in state of practice: Required

Basic Life Support (BLS)?certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Preferred

Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice: Required Facility Specific License/Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required

AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS: Required

Essential Functions:

Consistently performs comprehensive, advanced clinical patient assessment before, during and post procedure, demonstrating an awareness of age specific and diagnosis related differences.

Provides appropriate nursing interventions in stable and emergent patient situations.

Is competent in

(1) arrhythmia recognition and treatment,

(2) hemodynamic monitoring,

(3) care and maintenance or arterial access sites,

(4) ventilator management. Is competent to

(1) provide care to patients during interventional procedures,

(2) monitor and maintain patients with multiple titrated drips, demonstrating knowledge and understanding of the pharmacological interactions and effects of each.

(3) manage of care of patients requiring cardiac pacing. Is competent to monitor patients receiving conscious sedation.

Demonstrates advanced knowledge of equipment used i.e. pulse oximeter, ACT machine, hemodynamic monitor, and be able to troubleshoot problems.

Consistently provides procedure related education to patients and/or their families.

Provides pre-procedure education regarding the differing roles and responsibilities of team members.

Uses teaching methods appropriate to the condition, culture and assessment learning readiness of the patient.

Demonstrates competency in arterial/venous catheter/sheath removal with assessment of potential problems and implements appropriates interventions.

Demonstrates advanced knowledge and recognition of complex hemodynamics and pathology related waveforms. Ensures nursing standards of practice are met.

Demonstrates follow through with incident reporting (STARS) and involvement in departmental QA/PI development, auditing, trending and staff counseling/training regarding such.

Demonstrates advanced knowledge of ECG arrhythmia.

Informs physician of pressure and ECG changes as they occur.

Implements appropriate interventions and is able to anticipate potential complications.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
