A successful InterSystems IRIS Developer at Fiserv leads the design, development, modernization, and support of business-critical platforms built on InterSystems Cache and InterSystems IRIS. We translate product needs into scalable technical solutions, strengthen engineering practices, and partner across teams to deliver secure, reliable, and high-performing applications. We also mentor developers, improve operational resilience, and help drive continuous modernization in a regulated fintech environment.

What you will do?

  • Lead solution design and end-to-end delivery for applications built on InterSystems Cache and InterSystems IRIS, translating product requirements into technical designs while identifying dependencies, tradeoffs, risks, and phased delivery plans.
  • Design, develop, test, debug, and document ObjectScript-based services, APIs, batch processes, and data workflows, while driving code quality through coding standards, code reviews, pairing, and automated checks.
  • Optimize data-centric applications by modeling and tuning IRIS/Cache data structures, SQL access, persistent classes, queries, and application logic for performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Lead modernization and integration efforts, including legacy component upgrades and migrations such as Cache to IRIS, while maintaining backward compatibility and implementing REST APIs, messaging, and file or batch integration patterns.
  • Support operational excellence by troubleshooting incidents, performing root-cause analysis, implementing preventive improvements, embedding secure software development practices, partnering with security and risk teams, and mentoring engineers across engineering, QA, architecture, architecture, infrastructure, and product teams.

What you must have?

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, including technical leadership for enterprise systems with ownership of design, mentoring, and delivery accountability.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with InterSystems Cache and/or InterSystems IRIS, including strong ObjectScript development and support expertise.
  • 3+ years of experience building and supporting high-performance, data-centric applications with SQL, indexing, query optimization, performance tuning, and operational readiness in IRIS/Cache environments.
  • 2+ years of Agile delivery experience using Scrum or Kanban, including story refinement, estimation, sprint planning, demos, retrospectives, and participation in production support or incident response.

What would be nice to have?

  • 3+ years of experience with IRIS/Cache administration or close operational partnership, including installations, upgrades, backup and restore, monitoring, and high availability concepts such as mirroring or failover.
  • 2+ years of experience with interoperability and engineering enablement, including REST/JSON APIs, messaging, ETL pipelines, batch or file interfaces, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and Git-based workflows.
  • 1+ year of experience in regulated environments such as financial services, along with Linux/Unix scripting and InterSystems certifications in IRIS, Cache, HealthShare, or Ensemble.

Salary Range

These pay ranges apply to employees in New Jersey and New York. Pay ranges for employees in other states may differ.
