Job description

We're looking for a Clinical Systems Specialist to support the technology behind our clinical laboratory operations. This role combines a medical laboratory background with software application knowledge.
The Clinical Systems Specialist plans, designs, implements, maintains, and provides ongoing optimization and support for LIS software and related enterprise clinical applications. This role also performs workflow assessments and impact analysis, captures business needs, and analyzes internal systems to determine requirements for optimal utilization of applications.
The position works within cross-functional teams and with end users to meet clinical laboratory needs, with moderate instruction and guidance from senior team members, team leads, and the direct supervisor.
Location & Schedule
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM, with a one-hour lunch. Schedule flexibility may be considered
  • Location: On-site in Pendleton
  • On-Call: Participation in a rotating on-call schedule is required
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate degree required.
  • 2+ years of clinical laboratory experience.
  • Knowledge of medical laboratory instrumentation operation and configuration.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ASCP or AMT Certification as MLS or MLT, or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 2+ years of Interpath LIS experience.
  • 2+ years of DI Instrument Manager user experience.
What You'll Do
  • Design, implement, and maintain configurations in the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and related enterprise clinical laboratory applications while ensuring quality outcomes.
  • Design, implement, and maintain instrument interfaces in Data Innovations (DI) Instrument Manager and LIS.
  • Design, implement, and maintain configurations on the laboratory automation line and laboratory quality assurance applications.
  • Validate, document, and perform workflow assessments and impact analysis.
  • Capture business needs and analyze internal systems to determine requirements for optimal utilization of applications.
  • Maintain effective documentation to ensure compliance with regulations and laws, including College of American Pathologists (CAP) standards.
  • Proactively recognize work that needs to be completed and prioritize effectively.
  • Communicate effectively with the team, including vendor representatives and end users.
  • Use a combination of SQL, Cache ObjectScript, and various tools used to configure instrument settings.
  • Maintain consistent, reliable attendance.
  • Perform related duties as required and additional duties as the needs of the position evolve.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This position works primarily in a clinical reference laboratory and computer-based environment.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.
  • Occasional stress related to deadlines and the need to respond to system issues in a timely manner.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
