Department Information
The University of West Georgia's Speech-Language Pathology program is housed in the Department of Counseling, Higher Education, and Speech-Language Pathology in the College of Education. The SLP program is seeking part-time clinical supervisors to assist with supervision in the Comprehensive Community Clinic. These positions may be available every semester.
We are truly unique in that our programs focus on a broad spectrum of school and community-related endeavors. With an overarching emphasis on preparing exemplary practitioners who make meaningful contributions to the community and lives of the individuals with whom they work, faculty in our programs provide innovative programs in the following areas: Communication Sciences and Disorders, Counselor Education, Higher Education Administration, and College Student Affairs.
Job Summary
The Master of Education (MEd) education program in speech-language pathology at the University of West Georgia is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. In the graduate program at UWG, students complete closely supervised practical and/or internships in a variety of settings and with persons of varying ages. The Comprehensive Community Clinic that is housed in the College of Education provides opportunities for students to complete a number of clinical hours on the campus. However, students are required to complete clinical hours in other settings.
The program prepares students for a professional career in the identification, assessment, and treatment of all communication disorders, including language, articulation, voice, resonance, fluency, and swallowing disorders. Successful completion of program and other professional requirements is designed to lead the applicant toward obtaining a Master of Education degree (M.Ed.) in Speech-Language Pathology, Georgia Professional Standards Commission (PSC) certification, Georgia Licensure in Speech-Language Pathology, and ASHA's Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC).
Responsibilities
Potential clinical supervisors would assist with class SLPA 6790 Clinical Practice and Methods in SLP I, or 6791 Clinical Practice and Methods in SLP II.
Required Qualifications
Georgia Licensure in Speech-Language Pathology, and ASHA's Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC); at least 9 months of experience as an SLP post-certification; 2 hours of professional development in clinical instruction/supervision
