Job Summary:
The Warehouse Inventory Lead is responsible for overseeing all inventory control activities to ensure inventory accuracy, product traceability, and operational efficiency within the warehouse. This role provides day-to-day leadership for inventory personnel, conducts inventory audits and cycle counts, investigates discrepancies, and works closely with inbound, outbound, and customer service teams to maintain accurate inventory records. The Inventory Lead plays a critical role in supporting operational performance by ensuring compliance with established inventory processes, warehouse management system (WMS) procedures, and company standards.
Essential Functions:
Team Leadership
  • Lead and support daily activities of the inventory team to ensure departmental goals and performance expectations are achieved.
  • Assign work, prioritize tasks, and monitor productivity throughout the shift.
  • Train and mentor employees on inventory procedures, WMS transactions, and best practices.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to team members to promote accountability and professional development.
  • Support employee engagement by fostering a positive, collaborative, and safe work environment.
  • Assist management with performance monitoring, attendance tracking, and training initiatives.

Inventory Control
  • Oversee inventory accuracy through cycle counts, location audits, physical inventories, and reconciliation processes.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and identify root causes to implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records within the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
  • Monitor inventory adjustments and ensure proper documentation and approval procedures are followed.
  • Verify inventory movement transactions including receiving, put-away, replenishment, transfers, and shipping.
  • Ensure inventory is properly located, identified, and maintained according to company and customer requirements.
  • Support annual physical inventories and customer inventory audits.

Operations Support
  • Partner with Inbound and Outbound Operations to ensure inventory transactions are completed accurately and timely.
  • Audit receiving, put-away, replenishment, and shipping activities to verify inventory integrity.
  • Monitor inventory availability and coordinate replenishment activities to support operational needs.
  • Assist in resolving inventory-related issues impacting customer orders and warehouse operations.
  • Support implementation of new customers, processes, and operational initiatives.

Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and warehouse operating procedures.
  • Conduct routine workplace inspections and report safety concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with inventory control procedures, customer requirements, and company standards.
  • Maintain organized inventory locations and support overall warehouse housekeeping initiatives.
  • Ensure proper use and certification of powered industrial equipment, including Reach Trucks, Order Pickers, and Sit-Down Forklifts.
  • Report accidents, incidents, and near misses according to company procedures.

Performance & Continuous Improvement
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including inventory accuracy, cycle count completion, inventory adjustments, and location utilization.
  • Analyze inventory trends and identify opportunities to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Develop and recommend process improvements that support operational performance and reduce errors.
  • Assist with implementation of corrective and preventive actions related to inventory discrepancies.
  • Support warehouse projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Communication & Collaboration
  • Communicate inventory concerns, shortages, overages, and discrepancies to management and affected departments.
  • Collaborate with Inbound, Outbound, Customer Service, and Operations teams to resolve inventory-related issues.
  • Prepare inventory reports and provide operational updates to management.
  • Participate in daily meetings and provide inventory status updates.
  • Serve as the first point of escalation for inventory-related concerns.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of warehouse, inventory control, logistics, or distribution experience.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of leadership or lead experience in a warehouse environment.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory control principles, cycle counting, and inventory reconciliation.
  • Experience working with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and RF scanning technology.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience operating powered industrial equipment, including Reach Truck, Order Picker, and Sit-Down Forklift.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on inventory accuracy and process compliance.
