About JerseySTEM
All JerseySTEM roles are pro-bono (unpaid) positions.
JerseySTEM is a mission-driven professional network of pro-bono contributors dedicated to improving access to STEM education and career pathways for underserved middle school girls in New Jersey.
Members contribute their professional skills and leverage their networks in service of the organization's gender-equity agenda.
Membership is a minimum six-month commitment of approximately six flexible hours per week and includes a $100 refundable deposit, returned after six months of active membership. K-12 educators, retirees, veterans, interns, and students are exempt from the deposit.
Overview
This is a pro-bono volunteer position.
Jersey STEM is a grassroots non-profit organization dedicated to offering innovative opportunities and bridging the gender gap in STEM education for children in New Jersey's underserved communities. We are dedicated to partnering with local schools, parents, and educators to create and enhance STEM-oriented educational opportunities for students in grades 5-8 as part of their paths towards college and career readiness. We provide free after-school, project-based, and hands-on structured programs in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Classes include: Robotics, Coding, Engineering, Life Sciences, etc. Classes last up to 10 weeks and are predominantly taught by trained volunteer college students.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for translating brand strategy into powerful and purposeful creative concepts, with the goal of elevating JerseySTEM's visual brand identity across all verticals
  • Partners with CRPE, COME and CLGE marketing leads to support all creative needs
  • Operates cross-functionally with various stakeholders
  • Leads a team of creatives including but not limited to Designers, Copywriters, Editors, and Project Managers
  • Recruits and maintains a ready-team of external creatives that can be leveraged as needed based on project pipeline and project-specific creative skill-sets
  • Works with the Head of Marketing to address cross-functional stakeholder needs
  • Owns the historical documentation of all creative marketing processes and responsibilities by creating artifact materials for the JerseySTEM knowledge hub

Qualifications
  • Strong creative skills
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Self-motivated, proactive
  • Excels at cross-functional collaboration
  • Experience producing marketing collateral (presentation experience is a plus)
  • Experience working across various mediums from writing, video, events, etc.
  • Experience working within G-Suite, Slack and JIRA preferred

Weekly Time Commitment
  • 5-7 hours/week
  • 6 month minimum commitment
