Job description

Who We Are. Chevron is one of the world's leading energy companies-but what really sets us apart is how we're rethinking energy for the future. From producing oil and gas to developing lowercarbon technologies, Chevron engineers work across the full energy system to power everyday life more safely, efficiently, and responsibly. Learn more about What We Do and The Chevron Way.

Headquartered in Houston, Texas, Chevron operates around the globe and across the entire energy value chain. Learn more on our website Chevron.com.

What You'll Actually Do

Chevron is hiring at various operating locations across the U.S, including:

  • Ames, Iowa
  • Bakersfield, California
  • Belle Chasse, Louisiana
  • Covington, Louisiana
  • El Segundo, California
  • Geismar, Louisiana
  • Greeley, Colorado
  • Houston, Texas
  • Midland, Texas
  • Pasadena, Texas
  • Pascagoula, Mississippi
  • Richmond, California
  • Salt Lake City, Utah

Process Engineering interns will be assigned a process engineering mentor and will be assigned one or more projects during their internship to support operating facilities through the application of technical engineering knowledge and project management skills. These areas of support may include:

  • Optimizing facilities to deliver maximum value safely and reliably.
  • Providing technical engineering support for turnarounds and projects.
  • Developing and/or deploying industry leading technologies to reduce carbon, increase efficiency and maximize returns.
  • Using digitalization and data analytics to improve process operations and safety.

At the completion of the internship, interns will have the opportunity to apply for a return internship or full-time position with Chevron. If accepted for a full-time entry level position, engineering graduates

will be enrolled in Chevron's Horizons Program, an early-career development program combining formal training, on-the-job competency development, mentoring, and multiple job assignments. Process Engineers will be enrolled in a Process Engineering development track to develop a core technical foundation to draw upon throughout their career. Engineers in this track will develop competencies to design and optimize systems for separation, purification, transformation, transportation and disposition of hydrocarbons, water and various other process streams by physical and chemical means.

Horizons engineers typically complete the development program in their first five years of employment and may have the opportunity to work in multiple work locations during that time. After graduating from Horizons, process engineers may continue to work in roles aligned with their initial Horizons track, or they may choose to focus on other areas of interest, including:

  • Reliability & Integrity Engineering - focused on asset integrity, reliability, maintainability, and operability of operating assets.
  • Technical Safety Engineering - identify hazards, assess risk, and develop mitigation strategies through application of engineering design principles to a managed level of risk for operating facilities and capital projects.
  • Engineering Design & Projects - deliver high quality designs and predictable execution of projects through the development and application of sound engineering and design principles and processes.
  • General Facilities Engineering - Support operating facilities through application of broad fundamental technical engineering knowledge and small project execution skills.

Process Engineers have the opportunity to advance throughout their career as individual contributors or as engineering supervisors and managers. Opportunities also exist for engineers to work in and lead other business functions such as Operations or Business Development & Commercial.

What's Next After the Internship

Topperforming interns may be invited back-or offered a fulltime role after graduation.

New grads who join Chevron fulltime enter the Horizons Program, a structured earlycareer experience that includes:

  • Formal training + onthejob learning
  • Mentorship from experienced professionals
  • Multiple job assignments and possible location rotations

You can build a career as a technical expert, people leader, or both.

What You Must Have

The following are required qualifications:

  • Students pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in chemical engineering.
  • Strong academic performance in core programs, communication, leadership, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate The Chevron Way.

Why Intern at Chevron?

  • You work on real projects, not side tasks
  • You use modern tools and cloud platforms
  • You learn how software scales in a global enterprise
  • You build skills that translate anywhere
  • You're supported by experienced engineers and mentors

Compensation & Benefits

The anticipated monthly (hourly) range for this position is $29.95 hourly - $8,800 monthly. The selected candidate's monthly or hourly compensation will be determined based on their selected role, degree level and academic year.

As an intern, you will receive the following benefits:

  • Furnished housing.
  • Participation in Employee Savings Investment Plan with immediate vesting in both employee and company contributions.
    • Chevron matching contributions:
      • 4% company match for a 1% employee contribution.

  • Work schedules:
    • Flexible work schedules (5/40, 9/80, or 4/10), as determined by the work group and confirmed with the hiring manager.
  • Paid holidays depending on your work schedule.
  • Full year of service credit for each internship completion (must be re-employed within 365 days)
