Job description

At Calnin and Goss, we build more than complex projects, and we build strong relationships, great teams, and lasting impact.
At Calnin & Goss, we're more than a civil construction company, we're a team built on honesty, fairness, hard work, and a genuine passion for construction. We're looking for a Project Engineer who is eager to learn, ready to roll up their sleeves, and excited to grow alongside a team that values collaboration, accountability, and strong relationships.
As a Project Engineer, you'll play an important role in bringing projects to life by supporting planning, coordination, and execution from both the office and the field. You'll work alongside project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and clients to help manage drawings, schedules, materials, costs, quality, and project documentation. From tracking production and reviewing submittals to coordinating field activities and supporting change management, you'll gain hands-on experience across every phase of construction.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is humble, hungry, smart, reliable, and gritty. If you enjoy solving problems, building relationships, learning from experienced professionals, and taking pride in delivering high-quality work, you'll find a rewarding career path with Calnin & Goss. Here, you'll develop your skills, contribute to meaningful projects, and help build the infrastructure that strengthens our communities.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $63,000- $80,222 annually. This information reflects the anticipated base salary for this position based on current market data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Actual pay will be adjusted based on an individual's skills, experiences, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law.

Why You'll Love Working at Calnin and Goss

  • Safety First: Everyone home safe every day
  • Career Growth: Real development through mentorship and hands-on learning
  • High-Impact Projects: Complex industrial work that matters
  • Lead & Mentor: Learn today, lead tomorrow
  • Rich Culture: What started as a carpentry shop has grown into a multi-million-dollar company built on relationships and craftsmanship
  • High Performance: By people, strengthened through AI and technology that enhance collaboration, transparency, and results.

At Calnin and Goss, high performance starts with strong relationships. We believe the best projects are delivered by teams that trust each other, communicate openly, and take ownership from the field to the office. Our culture blends accountability with support; where learning, mentorship, and collaboration, power results. You won't just contribute to projects that matter; you'll grow alongside people who are investing in your success.
What You Bring
  • A four-year degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent technical training and experience).
  • A strong appreciation for safety, ethics, and quality, with the ability to support site safety efforts and follow applicable codes and standards.
  • Solid understanding of construction drawings, specifications, materials, and equipment, with a desire to build deeper technical knowledge.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, field teams, subcontractors, consultants, and owners.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with experience supporting documentation such as submittals, RFIs, schedules, reports, and cost tracking.
  • Willingness to be hands-on, splitting time between the office and active construction sites to support project delivery.
  • A growth mindset, someone who is curious, dependable, and eager to learn, aligned with Calnin & Goss values of humility, grit, and teamwork.

Nice to Have
  • Prior internship or field experience in civil or heavy construction.
  • Experience assisting with submittals, shop drawings, change documentation, or quantity tracking.
  • Familiarity with production tracking, site logistics planning, or material procurement coordination.
