Job Title

Physician

Duties

Major duties and responsibilities for Physician but not limited to:

  • Provides quality, patient-centered care for adults age 18-65 and older adults age 65+, focusing on kidney diseases, end-stage renal disease, and kidney transplantation as assigned by the Chief, Medical Service.
  • Serves as staff attending for the Transplant Nephrology consult service as assigned and participates in the Transplant Nephrology peer review process when requested.
  • Completes all medical record documentation, encounters, and trainee supervision attestations in the electronic medical record within prescribed timeframes; documents and rates administrative and clinical information thoroughly and accurately.
  • Participates in the formal education of residents and medical students by presenting teaching rounds, lectures, and conferences focused on nephrology and kidney transplantation.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of education and training programs for medical students and residents rotating through the Medical Service's accountable Transplant Nephrology Clinical Services.
  • Provides guidance, support, and supervision to nurse practitioners, medical students, and residents (interns, residents, and/or fellows) assigned to Transplant Nephrology and related subspecialty services and clinics, according to facility standards and as assigned by the Chief, Medical Service.
  • Revises work schedules and assignments to meet frequent, abrupt, and unpredictable changes in prescribed workloads and deadlines to meet patient care, healthcare, and agency needs. Follows agency and Service-level expectations for time/attendance and modification of clinical duties for planned leave.
  • Supports the medical center-wide research mission, especially as it relates to nephrology and kidney transplant care and encourages research participation among other staff members.
  • Assists in conducting studies regarding nephrology and kidney transplant treatment modalities, outcomes, and other aspects of patient care when appropriate.
