Job description


Job Summary:

The primary focus of this position is to lead and coordinate traffic control operations related to roadway, utility, bridge, highway, and freeway projects while ensuring compliance with traffic control plans and applicable safety regulations. Responsible for assigning work, coordinating crews, supporting customer communication, and maintaining efficient field operations.

Example of Duties:

  • Performs all traffic control duties independently.
  • Leads daily traffic control operations and crew assignments.
  • Coordinates setup, modification, and removal of traffic control work zones.
  • Reviews traffic control plans and ensures field compliance.
  • Monitors traffic control activities for safety and operational effectiveness.
  • Coordinates with customers, dispatch, and project teams to support project execution.
  • Provides training, mentoring, and work direction to traffic control personnel.
  • Conducts equipment inspections and verifies readiness of vehicles and materials.
  • Completes reporting and documentation timely and accurately.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Advanced understanding of traffic control operations and work zone safety.
  • Ability to lead crews and coordinate multiple work activities.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient with dispatch systems, Microsoft Office Suite, iPads, and radios.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Travel overnight on a minimal basis.

Experience/Education:

  • Minimum 10 years traffic control experience is preferred.
  • Experience leading traffic crews preferred.
  • High School graduate or equivalent.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • ATSSA Certified required.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license, Class C, with the ability to maintain insurability under the company’s insurance carrier.
