The company has facilities in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin, Franklin Virginia and Duluth, Minnesota. The company operates five tissue machines and produces bath tissue, paper towels, and napkin parent rolls primarily for the Away-from-Home segment of the North American tissue market.

Job Description

The company LLC is seeking a highly skilled Process Control Engineer to join our team and play a critical role in supporting and advancing our tissue production operations. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in process control systems, particularly Valmet DCS, with proven ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and program both legacy and modern control architectures. Experience with Quality Control Systems (QCS) and other DCS platforms such as ABB or Honeywell are strongly desired.

This role ensures the mill runs safely, efficiently, and at the highest quality standards througheffective control system design, maintenance, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

• System Maintenance & Optimization:

Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Quality

Control Systems (QCS)—both legacy and current—to ensure reliable and efficient mill

operations.

• Control Loop Programming:

Design, implement, and refine control loops using ABB and Valmet platforms, ensuringstable and consistent process performance.

• Legacy System Adaptation:

Support and maintain older control systems, ensuring continued operation while

preparing for future modernization.

• System Upgrades & Integration:

Lead and execute DCS/QCS upgrade projects, integrating new technologies with existinginfrastructure for improved performance and sustainability.

• Technical Support:

Serve as the go-to expert for process control issues. Work closely with operations,

maintenance, and engineering teams to resolve technical challenges.

• Documentation & Compliance:

Maintain up-to-date documentation for system configurations, code changes, and

maintenance activities. Ensure all control systems comply with industry safety standards and regulatory requirements.

• Continuous Improvement:

Identify opportunities to enhance system reliability, reduce downtime, and improve

product quality through process automation and control strategies.

• Training & Mentorship:

Train and mentor operations staff, technicians, and junior engineers on control system usage, troubleshooting, and best practices.

JOB INFORMATION

Position Title: Process Control Engineer

Number of Job positions available: 1 for each position
Job Type: Full Time/salaried.
Starting Salary: The proposed salary range is $65,000–$70,000.

Workweek:  Standard office hours are typically from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday throughFriday; however, these hours may vary depending on the specific location and the level ofsupport or issues that arise at the mill.

PPE: Personal Protection Equipment will be provided by the company at no cost.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience with process control systems in a

manufacturing environment.

• Strong working knowledge of Valmet DCS systems (required).

• Experience with QCS platforms (e.g., Valmet, ABB) and their integration with DCS

systems.

• Proficiency in Valmet control loop programming; experience with ABB, Honeywell orother DCS platforms is a plus.

• Proven ability to manage legacy system platforms and drive system upgrade initiatives.

• Solid understanding of control theory, instrumentation, and automation best practices.

• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills with a proactive mindset.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work cross-functionally.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a tissue or paper mill environment.

• Experience with PLC systems, and other industrial control platforms.

• Familiarity with cybersecurity principles in industrial control systems.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Automation Engineering, or related field.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Criminal Background Check? Yes, selected applicant must pass a CBC beforedeparture from the place of recruitment to the place of employment. CBC will be conducted through the recruitment company.

Drug Test?  Yes, selected applicant must pass a DT before departure from the place ofrecruitment to the place of employment. The DT will be conducted through the recruitmentcompany.

The company does not accept a positive result for cannabis use at any of the locations. Additionally, the company conducts a 7-panel drug test as part of their pre-employment process.

English Level Requirement: Good Communication level English (C1) 

Drivers License: Yes, required to be able to use a company vehicle. USA’s driving record.

Once visa or change of employer is approved, the first-time flight travel (economy class) to the business location will be provided by the company.

Transportation: A company vehicle will also be provided during this initial period of 3 months. The company will provide a car and fuel allowance for three months.

HOUSING

Housing for the first three months will be provided to help new hires settle in. The housing includes individual rooms in an apartment with utilities, Wi-Fi, and coin-operated laundry.
