What Does a Processing Team Member Do Anyway?
- Sort donated items and identify great finds
- Help identify recyclable items. Even if we can't sell it, we keep it out of the landfill
- Get those great finds sales floor ready
- Load and unload carts to get merchandise out safely and efficiently

Position Title: Processing Team Member (Grader)
Reports To: Processing Supervisor

Position Purpose and Objectives
Join our mission-driven team as a Processing Team Member (Grader) and help ensure our products meet the highest quality standards. You'll inspect, grade, and categorize items for condition and sellability, supporting smooth backroom operations and preparing merchandise for the retail floor. This role requires attention to detail, teamwork, and a commitment to safety in a fast-paced environment.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Inspect clothing, shoes, and household items for stains, tears, odors, and other defects.
- Categorize items based on quality standards, including sellable, non-sellable, and recyclable.
- Handle seasonal and specialty items per guidelines.
- Ensure items meet quality and condition requirements for customer satisfaction.
- Ensure items are accurately graded and priced within the established time standard while focusing on quality and condition.
- Participate in team training to stay updated on quality standards and seasonal guidelines.
- Be flexible to assist with other tasks or workstations as needed.
- Rotate positions regularly to prevent repetitive motion injuries.
- Uphold the organization's commitment to safety and quality in all tasks
Skills and Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Strong attention to detail to identify quality issues quickly.
- The ability to work efficiently to meet production targets.
- Team-oriented mindset with excellent communication skills.
- Familiarity with the handling and categorization of a variety of items, including clothing, toys, and household items.
- Operate in a fast-paced environment that requires standing, bending, and lifting throughout the shift.
- Handle merchandise bags weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and meet other job-related demands for extended periods.
- Comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided.

Physical Demands:
- Frequently - Carrying up to 50 lbs., pushing and pulling up to 25 lbs., lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing up to 14-foot height, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, handling and smelling.
- Frequently - Walking on tile/concrete, bending, feeling, and reaching waist/overhead level.
- Continuously - Standing on tile/concrete, talking, seeing, and hearing.
Other:
- Mostly regular and weekend hours, occasionally working evenings and holiday hours as needed.
- Working environment includes inside of building with semi- controlled temperatures and outside conditions with varying weather and temperatures.
