Job Description
IAT Insurance Group has an opening for a Cyber Security Intern within our IT Business Unit in our Raleigh, North Carolina location for the summer of 2027. This role supports the IAT Cybersecurity Team and provides the intern an opportunity to gain practical experience protecting and defending IAT assets.
The internship is scheduled to begin on May 24th, 2027 and conclude on July 30th, 2027. Please note, IAT works on a hybrid schedule, working from the office Monday through Wednesday with the option of working remotely Thursday and Friday.
Some of the typical projects include:
  • Analytical analysis of IAT vulnerability data,
  • Phishing and Social Engineering campaign development,
  • Ethical Hacking,
  • Security Threat Monitoring,
  • Identity and Access Management,
  • Cybersecurity Tabletop and War Gaming,
  • Cyber Strategy and Program Development,
  • Privacy and Data Protection
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications:
Must Have:
  • Must be an undergraduate rising Junior or rising Senior student pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or Management Information Systems.
  • Must be able to work out of IAT's Raleigh, North Carolina office without housing assistance or relocation assistance from IAT Insurance Group.
  • Must be able to complete the entirety of the 10-week internship program (May 24th, 2027 to July 30th, 2027).
  • Desire to learn about cyber security.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • A track record of outstanding academic performance.
  • Eagerness to contribute to a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment.
  • Excellent leadership, communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship by employer, now or in the future.

Preferred to Have:
  • Completed coursework or related work/internship experience in cybersecurity or Information Technology.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of social engineering concepts including phishing and marketing.
