Job description

Northtown Care Center is actively seeking an experienced Beautician to provide beautician services to its residents and to compliment barber services. The Beautician will be responsible for enhancing our residents’ appearance, self-esteem, and overall presentation. This person will conduct a wide range of hair care services including but not limited to shampooing, cutting, coloring, highlighting and styling. The beautician will be required to maintain basic safety standards and hygienic measures according to state guidelines. This person will be expected to build a rapport with residents through recommendations, meaningful conversation and basic knowledge of current beauty industry trends.

Ø  The Beautician will arrange his/her schedule and payments directly with the residents. No transactions will be done with the facility. This is a contracted job and candidate will not be considered an employee.

Ø  The Beautician will charge fair and reasonable prices that are comparable to prices in the county area salons. Beautician will provide their own supplies and equipment. Certificate/License must be current.

DUTIES:

Maintains equipment in a clean and tidy manner on a daily basis;

Styles hair consistent with residents’ request and preference;

Supplies chemicals to achieve permanents, relaxers, and color in a continuously competent manner;

Promotes a friendly and positive atmosphere in the delivery of beauty parlor services;

Preserves safe environment for residents and staff in the Beauty Shop;

Has knowledge of chemicals and processes used in the service;

Identifies and responds in a timely and sensitive manner to the needs of the residents receiving beauty services;

Maintains beauty parlor log for residents being serviced;

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Licensed by the State of New York in cosmetology;

Proof of Liability Insurance;

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;

Prior experience as a beautician or barber;

Prior experience in a healthcare facility preferred;

Must pass a background screen;

Qualifications and Job Skills:

Must be licensed in cosmetology, or equivalent experience.

Be flexible with their schedule to accommodate the needs of our residents.

Memory Care experience a plus.

Must demonstrate a commitment to the safe practices, infection control and respect for residents’ rights.

Must have a commitment to customer/resident service.
