This role builds upon foundational experience and demonstrates a growing ability to execute design tasks, perform engineering calculations, and contribute to project deliverables.
The Engineer 2 continues to develop technical expertise in substation site design, grading, foundations, and structural systems while collaborating with internal teams and supporting client interactions.
Job Responsibilities- Continues to develop knowledge of substation civil/structural design practices, including site layout, grading, drainage, foundations, and structural components (steel and concrete).
- Supports the preparation of engineering deliverables including site plans, grading plans, foundation designs, structural details, reports, and specifications.
- Performs basic to moderately complex engineering calculations (e.g., foundation design, structural loading, drainage analysis) using standard methods.
- Assists in the development and QA/QC of design deliverables in accordance with the company’s quality program.
- Coordinates with multidisciplinary teams (electrical, structural, and civil) to ensure alignment of design components.
- Communicates with internal team members and may support interactions with clients for data requests, site visits, and design clarifications.
- Participates in site visits to support data collection, field verification, and design development.
- Assists in managing task-level schedules, priorities, and deliverables under the guidance of senior engineers or project managers.
- Identifies opportunities for process improvements and supports continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develops an understanding of client needs and project drivers and supports the project team in meeting those expectations.
- Collects, organizes, and manages engineering data to support design activities.
- Ensures accurate and timely completion of timesheets, expense reports, and assigned tasks.
- Maintains awareness of project scope and communicates potential changes or concerns to project leadership.
- Minimum of 1+ years of relevant civil/structural engineering experience (internship or full-time) in utility, infrastructure, or related design work; or a Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
