Position Summary
The Event and Marketing Intern will work closely with the Special Events Coordinator and SCI leadership team to support marketing, communications, sponsorship fulfillment, and event initiatives. This role is ideal for a creative, organized, and motivated student who is interested in gaining hands-on experience in marketing, content creation, community engagement, and nonprofit event management.
While the position includes some event support responsibilities, the primary focus will be on marketing and communications efforts that increase awareness of SCI's programs, events, and community impact.
What Does a Day in the Life Look Like?
Some of the projects and responsibilities you'll be involved in include:
Marketing & Content Creation
- Manage and create content for SCI's social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
- Develop graphics and promotional materials using Canva.
- Create content to promote SCI programs, workshops, EntreCon®, Light Up Learning, Venture Mentoring Service (VMS), and other community initiatives.
- Capture photos and videos at events and programs for use across digital channels.
- Create reels, short-form videos, and other engaging content to increase community awareness and engagement.
- Assist with email marketing campaigns and promotional communications.
- Help identify and leverage marketing opportunities to increase event attendance, ticket sales, and program participation.
- Monitor social media engagement and assist with community interaction online.
Sponsorship & Community Engagement
- Collaborate with sponsors, community partners, and vendors to gather marketing assets and fulfill sponsorship benefits.
- Work alongside the Special Events Coordinator to ensure sponsor commitments and benefits are delivered accurately and on time.
- Assist with sponsor communications and relationship management.
- Help showcase sponsor partnerships through marketing and event promotions.
- Work directly with sponsors to gather content.
Event Support
- Assist with planning and coordinating SCI events, such as EntreCon®.
- Attend planning meetings and support event timelines and logistics.
- Assist with vendor communications and scheduling.
- Help prepare event materials, signage, and attendee resources.
- Support event-day operations as needed.

Technical Skills
Experience with or willingness to learn:
- Microsoft Outlook

- Constant Contact or similar email marketing platforms
- SurveyMonkey or similar survey tools
- Social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn
Education Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business, Event Management, Hospitality, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
- Eligible to receive internship credit if required by your academic program.
Position Type & Hours
- Part-time internship (In-person- Pensacola downtown office)
- Preferred availability during morning and daytime business hours
- Approximately 12–16 hours per week (3–4 hours per day, 4 days per week)
- Flexible scheduling available around academic commitments
- Laptop will be available for use
- Summer- Fall Internship preferred
