Job description


CalHeart is seeking a part-time research intern to support a new research initiative focused on the genetic basis of dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), led by Dr. Evan Kransdorf. The project, funded through Cedars Tech Ventures, will generate induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) lines from patients with various DCM genotypes. This is a strategically important research effort with strong scientific and translational potential. This internship will focus on prospective clinical and laboratory research, providing the dedicated support needed to move the DCM genetics program forward.
Through this role, the intern will gain hands-on experience in both prospective and retrospective clinical research through the CalHeart team, along with exposure to specialized iPSC and biomanufacturing methodologies via collaboration with the Biomanufacturing team. They will also receive mentorship from Dr. Evan Kransdorf and the broader CalHeart research team.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
• Support participant identification and recruitment for the DCM genetics study.
• Assist with data collection and management.
• Support regulatory submissions and other study-related administrative activities.
• Coordinate with internal and external research collaborators, including the Biomanufacturing team.
• Perform other project-specific tasks needed to support study milestones.

  • The ideal candidate is a medical student, ideally taking a gap year, or an equivalent individual with a strong interest in cardiovascular research. They should have a genuine interest in genetics, prospective clinical research, and/or stem cell biology, along with the ability to commit to a one-year, part-time term.
