Looking for a flexible position in an innovative practice with a supportive team?

Pioneer Equine is seeking a general practitioner to join our practice. We want to help you grow your career within our practice by providing an autonomous, but collaborative environment and flexibility to construct the position that best suits you and your schedule.

Beyond our excellent and loyal clientele and vibrant workplace atmosphere, Pioneer offers competitive salary or production-based payment options and benefits including health insurance and matched 401k plans. Access to state-of-the-art equipment and facilities provides an excellent foundation to create your dream job in equine practice. We hope to find a team member that will continue to help our practice grow and continue to provide the high-quality care that has come to be associated with the Pioneer name.

About the Position:

  • Open to general practitioners interested in a combination of hospital and ambulatory work that would like to focus on any type of medicine interest with a preference toward ambulatory general practice, ophthalmology, reproduction, and emergency.
  • Open to specialists looking to build their practice with already established clientele, but the role will require significant general practice contribution including ambulatory work.
  • Supported by multiple interns, technicians, an ultrasound specialist, a boarded internist, and two boarded surgeons
  • Reasonable amount of call (divided amongst all associates with intern contribution) with emergency fees paid to the associate
  • Flexible scheduling including day length and number of days per week
  • Focus on efficient, collaborative teamwork to allow for work-life balance

About Us:

Pioneer Equine Hospital has grown to be one of the most recognized practices in the country for equine surgery and lameness, as well as a full-service referral hospital and stallion center. We provide primary and emergency care on both an outpatient and ambulatory basis. We strive to excel in all aspects of equine practice with a focus on client service and exceptional patient care. Our strong culture and motivated staff lead to a cohesive and collaborative team environment. The hospital is extremely well-equipped with the resources to excel in case work-up and diagnosis, including but not limited to a large lameness pad with varied footing, digital radiography, standing Asto CT, a 1.5 Tesla MRI, endoscopy, and digital ultrasound. The surgical facilities are state of the art, with 2 large surgical suites and 4 induction/recovery stalls, 40 stalls including an isolation unit, large treatment areas, and a fleet of well-equipped ambulatory vehicles.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • You are a DVM or VMD with an ability to obtain a California license
    • The California Board Examination has recently been eliminated - new requirements are NAVLE + a take-home California veterinary law exam
  • A person dedicated to outstanding client service and excellent patient care and enjoy interacting and building relationships with clientele and coworkers.
  • A driven self-starter with a strong work ethic that enjoys bringing new ideas to the table and working collaboratively with a team
