Job description

Please Note: Our Field Engineering Internship is available for Freshman and Sophomore Civil Engineering Students. If you are a Junior or Senior, please refer to the Summer Internship 2027 (Design Engineering) job application.
At Walker Partners, our Field Engineering Internship is set up to help you gain a better understanding of the civil engineering world from the ground up. As a key part of a survey field crew, you'll get boots-on-the-ground experience across a variety of projects while learning every step of the land surveying process. This invaluable experience is a perfect steppingstone as you build your career as a civil engineer. Responsibilities
» Complete field notes/staking sheets and field calculations
» Utilize level rod, prism pole or measuring tape at designated points to assist in determining location and elevations of various features
» Lay out stakes for map-making, land construction, utility line construction and other surveys
» Cut and clear brush and trees from line of survey with machete, brush hook or chain saw
» Keep crew vehicle stocked with supplies and equipment; clean and organize vehicle
» Ability to take personal responsibility for the quality, accuracy and time constraints of work product
» Build working knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations while gaining familiarity with Walker Partners' quality standards and client specific procedures
» Communicate effectively, orally and in writing
» Actively participate in several Walker Partners University workshops, seminars, and field trips
Minimum Qualifications
» Pursuing Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or other relevant engineering discipline (from ABET Accredited Civil Engineering Program)
» Must currently be a Freshman or Sophomore
