Unit: Acute/Cardiac

Schedule/Shift: Full-Time / 36 hours weekly / Rotating Shift Shift

Location:Silver Spring, Maryland

Position Purpose

This position is for New Graduate Nurses interested in beginning their career at Holy Cross Hospital. We are seeking exceptional talent who is ready to blossom their careers with an exceptional health care system!
What makes our Graduate Nurse / Residency Program different from others?

Our graduate nurse program is comprised of four complementary components:

  • Hospital & Nursing Orientation: a multi-day introduction to our organization

  • Internships: 9 to 13-week competency-based orientation program

  • Mentorship: 3+ month peer support program

  • Nurse Residency Program: 12-month professional development coursework

Our program is designed to introduce the graduate and novice nurse into the practice arena with sensitivity to the ever-changing dynamics in our world and environment. With all the stressors inherent to a new job or role, we have purposefully introduced changes to our program to allow a more gradual immersion - with the result being a more confident and satisfied practitioner.

Our CAP program (Clinical Advancement Program) offers Nurses the opportunity to advance both in recognition and financial reward.

Unit Overview

This 30-bed unit provides care to patients with primary cardiac diagnoses, as well as to medical patients that require cardiac telemetry monitoring. 4 South Acute/Cardiac is staffed by registered nurses, certified nursing assistants, health unit coordinators, and monitor technicians. Staff receive support from clinical educators and advanced practice nurses.

As a Registered Nurse you will:

  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support patient-centered continuum of care.

  • Ability to communicate variances from patient goals and advocate on behalf of patient.

  • Maintain accurate and timely healthcare records.

  • Administer medications to patients, provide education and monitor for efficacy and side effects.

  • Assess, monitor, report and record patient condition and pertinent changes.

  • Design, implement and evaluate patient nursing care plans with healthcare team.

  • Educates patients and family throughout stay and in preparation for discharge.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree required (BSN preferred). Note, if the BSN or MSN degree is not present on hire, the employee must sign an agreement to obtain a within a specific time frame.

  • Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse. (Licensure required before starting.)

  • BLS certification (issued through the American Heart Association).

  • Superb interpersonal, communication and collaboration abilities.

  • Competency in electronic patient management systems.

Preferred:

  • BSN or MSN preferred

Pay Range: $38.92 - $55.68. Pay is based on experience, skills and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
