Rate of Pay: $47.27/hour + DOE
Summary
Responsible for the implementation of quality nutritional care and nutritional programming for the outpatient population, , including assessment of nutritional status, out patient counseling, interdisciplinary communication, wellness program implementation, and community outreach and education programs. Serves as a resource in the development and implementation of policies, procedures and programs related to nutritional care and nutrition education. Focus areas include, but are not limited to, pediatrics, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, food allergies and sensitivities, sports, weight management, wellness and prevention, eating disorders and disordered eating, neuro-divergent patients, integrative and functional medicine, food, culinary and supermarkets, communities and public health, nutrition education, and management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Consults with Physicians and other health care personnel to determine nutritional needs and diet
    restrictions with patients.
  • Assesses the nutrition health needs of patients/clients and develops nutrition-related priorities, goals, and objectives in order to establish and implement
  • Counsels individuals on behavioral and lifestyle changes that impact long-term eating habits and health.
  • Provides nutrition counseling and nutrition education as components of preventative, curative, and restorative health care.
  • Plans food and nutrition programs that include cooking demonstrations that help prevent and treat illnesses by promoting healthy eating habits and suggesting diet modifications.
  • Delivers group sessions and workshops and participates in community events.
  • Educates the public about healthy lifestyles (nutrition, physical activity, health-related behaviors) and food choices in venues such as school classrooms, community classes and groups, supermarkets, electronic learning formats, and social media.
  • Assists with the continual development, implementation and evaluation of nutrition and wellness programs for the community as deemed necessary.
  • Promotes and advocates for community wellness programs that seek to improve the physical, mental and emotional health of participants.
  • Teaches nutritional classes, facilitates lectures and presentations, writes articles and press releases and participates in community events.
  • Collaborates and partners with other community organizations to reach a broad audience and achieve a desired mutual goal.
  • Works with various department teams to set program objectives and initiatives in addition to delivering and promoting program components.
  • Assists with the development of outcome measures to evaluate effectiveness and improve patient care and satisfaction.
  • Develops and maintains key relationships with the medical providers, staff and the community through educational events.
  • Demonstrates System Values in performance and behavior.
  • Complies with System policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Minimum Education/Experience
Bachelor's Degree Bachelor of Science (B.S.) and 1-2 years relevant and completed, approved Dietetic Internship experience
Required Licenses/Certifications
Registered Dietician (RD)
  • Upon hire

Nevada Dietician
  • Within 3 months of hire into job

Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
  • Within 3 months of hire into job

Other Experience/Qualifications
Required:
  • Certified or Qualified Medical Interpreter or native speaker in English and Spanish

Preferred:
  • One-year clinical experience and /or out-patient or Wellness experience
  • Masters Degree
