Job description

The GIS Analyst supports the design, development, and implementation of GIS solutions. This role combines spatial data analysis, drone mapping, CAD support, and GPS surveying to produce accurate geospatial data and mapping products that support operational and project needs. The GIS Analyst requires strong technical skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
This position is a full-time, on-site role in Augusta, GA.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support the GIS Manager in the design and development of GIS solutions to support the organization's goals.
  • Create and maintain GIS datasets and applications, ensuring data accuracy, consistency and accessibility.
  • Assist in the development and execution of the annual GIS work program.
  • Design, prepare, and revise maps, charts, plans, three-dimensional models for a variety of internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain web maps for use in desktop, web, and mobile applications.
  • Compile and integrate data from multiple sources to support mapping and analysis efforts.
  • Perform spatial analysis to support planning, operations and project work.
  • Conduct drone flights, process imagery, analyze data, and incorporate results into GIS projects.
  • Utilize GPS equipment to collect field data and support development of as-built documentation.
  • Assist with photo documentation and archiving for capital and infrastructure projects.
  • Provide CAD support, including creating, updating, logging, scanning, coding, organizing archiving, archiving and filing of maps, plans, and as-builts.
  • Support database management and application maintenance activities.
  • Review data and GIS workflows to help maintain accuracy and efficiency.
  • Assist in maintaining GIS standards, procedures, and best practices
  • Analyze current business processes and record best-practice solutions.
  • Communicate with internal and external technical resources to support issue resolution and user needs.
  • Performs other duties which are deemed by management to be an important part of the job.

The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds and frequently required to talk and/or hear. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to use arms, hands and fingers to handle or lift items. The employee is constantly required to stand and walk, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, reach with hands and arms and/or drive a golf cart. The employee is also required to have visual acuity. Equipment used includes, but is not limited to: computer, printer, scanner, plotter, copier, two-way radio system, phone system, GPS equipment, and golf cart.

Qualifications:

Skills/Knowledge/Attributes:

  • Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar
  • Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD / Civil3D), Adobe Creative Suite, and GPS/surveying technology preferred
  • Detailed understanding graphic scales, mapping, and diagramming
  • Understanding of, and ability to learn drone mapping technology and interest in acquiring a drone pilots license (Part 107), if not already procured
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, independently or with a team and effectively meet deadlines
  • Ability to multi-task with a high attention to detail

Relative Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science or related field preferred.
  • 0-2 years of professional experience in the GIS field.
  • Familiarity with a golf course environment and the game of golf preferred.

Required License(s):

  • Possess a valid driver's license and/or successfully completes the Club's internal motor vehicle training program

Projected Work Schedule:

Normal work hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Must be available to work days, nights, weekends holidays and overtime as needed.
